Multiple Themes in a Project

Is it possible to have - say in a large site - a way to incorporate different themes for different parts of a site?

If not, that is a feature request!!

Thanks

David

    Hi,

You could use Mondrian from Henk which offers theme variation. 5 variations to be exact.

You can see it live on my website

Yes, there are several great themes out there that offer theme variations, but what about a site with completely different looks if the content is vast.

One way this could be done is to have a different RapidWeaver project for each subset of your site, and apply a different theme to each of them. Then, at the web hosting level you would create subdomains for the the subsets: topic1.mysite.com, topic2.mysite.com etc. and cross-link link them in their menus with offsite page links.

I don't think it has to be so complex.

Choose a page or pages in your site. For each page, go to Page Info then Styles. The first line is a drop-down menu of all your installed themes called Page-Specific Theme. By default it shows your chosen theme, but you can select any theme on the list and it will apply to that page ONLY.

I think there may be a misunderstanding in responses being made to the poster: I believe he's talking about applying different themes for large groups of pages on a massive site (he used the phrase "content is vast"), and wants to know the best (most efficient) way to do that. You want to be able to apply a master theme to a whole group of pages at once (and new pages added to that group) - not go in and fiddle with Page Info for six hundred different pages. With my approach, you can apply a new theme or style to a whole project (subsite) at once. With yours, you would have to go in and edit hundreds of pages individually.

Thanks Vasily. Your idea has promise, but I'm not sure how navigation would work. How would people jump from one area to another without entering in a new URL?

That's easy - you could add Offsite Pages for the areas to the menu, and link to the different areas from them, and use links in page bodies to cross-link the areas as needed.
