date checker / availability checker plug-in

Not sure if this is the right place but does anyone know of a plug in that allows the user to enter a date to see if the business / service or whatever is available?

I have a function band and it would be really useful for prospective clients to enter the date of their wedding / corporate party and see if we are free before going through a lengthy booking form process.

I prefer not to use a calendar because in the early part of the year we won't have many bookings and it makes us look as if we haven't got much work! by spring time, a calendar is fine but otherwise. This principle applies to a lot of businesses that could find this tyoe of function useful.

    sadly no. I think it would have to be a custom bit of javascript or similar which would be added manually. It's not exactly critical for us so I haven't pursued too hard, but would be interested to find something...

    I've been searching for hours now and have got nowhere! Maybe I should try to find someone who will write one for me. Do you know any contacts who might be able to help?

    not really but I will ask around. I guess it will require a simple database application so was wounding whether there is an online solution that the site could hook into. There seem to be plenty of complex ones but nothing offering a simple Yes available or No not available - which is all I want!

    I could probably build something like that in the coming weeks, if there are no online solutions available anywhere.
