Can I email posts to a RW blog?

Please excuse the beginner question. I created a website on RW several years ago, but I'm out of practice. I've also never created a blog.

WordPress or BlogSpot is attractive to me because if I travel for a few weeks and don't take along my own computer, I can still type up a blog entry on any computer in the world and email to my blog. It shows up automatically.

Can I do that with RW blogs? Or do I need to add blog posts from within the software on my computer every time?

    Works for me!

  • Yes, I know it's easy to create a blog at WP or BlogSpot. My only beef is that I visited their forum and there are *way* too many complaints about people's blogs being mistaken for spam and shut down ... often when they are completely legitimate blogs. That's what brings me back to RW ... being able to own the content and have control over the hosting.

But again, I want to know that on the occasions when I'm out of town without my own computer, I can post to my blog remotely.

  • So if I understand the link Gavin gave me above, with RapidWeaver blog themes, people can insert comments freely after a blog entry, but if I want to add a blog entry remotely with RW software nearby, I need to use a special theme like "rapidblog" for that ... is that correct?

RapidBlog is a 3rd Party Plugin that works with Blogger. You can't email a post to an RW based Blog.

You can purchase a web hosting account somewhere for a few dollars/euros a month that supports WordPress, install WordPress and configure it to accept posts via email, then use Nilrog's WP-Blog plugin to integrate with RW. If you're talking about free blog hosting, well, that's why it's free.

By using a combination of Rapidweaver, the Rapidblog plugin and a free Blogger account, you can easily set up a blog that is capable of being updated directly via email. Here's an example of a similar set up one of my sites I designed:

Go to this homepage and select the 'News' option.

The process works like this: You set up the Blogger account to allow posts via email. The RapidBlog plugin simply pulls the blog entries from Blogger to your webpage.
