I need a COLOR MANAGEMENT.
The major defect of RapidWeaver is the complete chaos in the color management.
Every theme, page, plugin, addon… has a different behavior, most of the times completely wrong.
If I put a picture in a page I do not know how it will appears when someone will open the web page.
I have a LaCie 324 monitor (it is a wide-gamut monitor) and I save for the web my pictures with the standard sRGB color profile but it is very rare that the picture will look in the right way. This is a list of what happens, depending on which page or addon is the "container" of the picture…
1) The picture is converted from sRGB to my monitor profile and then saved without the embedded profile.
ABSOLUTELY WRONG. No one apart me (on my computer & monitor) will see the picture with the original colors.
2) The picture is converted from sRGB to my monitor profile and then saved with that embedded profile. Partially WRONG, because the picture will be seen with original colors only in browsers fully compatible with ICC profiles.
3) The picture is not converted but it is saved without the sRGB profile.
GOOD for the most of browsers, but not for wide-gamut monitors.
When a picture has no embedded profile most of the browsers assign sRGB, but Safari don't. It sends the picture directly to the monitor without "interpretation" so in the wide-gamut monitors the picture will look over-saturated.
4) The picture is not converted and retains the original sRGB profile.
VERY GOOD, but rare.
The worst case is when a picture is positioned in a Rapidweaver Styled Text page and reduced in dimensions, or placed in a RapidWeaver Flash PhotoAlbum or Collage page. It is converted in my monitor profile and then saved without embedded profile.
If the picture in the Styled Text page is not reduced it is saved in the right way: with its original sRGB profile.
SymCanvas slideshow converts the picture in my monitor color profile and embeds the profile. Someone will see the pictures well (those who use a browser compatible with profiles), but I think it is a wrong behavior because it has no sense to convert the pictures in the user's monitor profiles. Every profile of every user is different.
Stacks converts the scaled pictures in Generic RGB Profile (wrong!). Only if the dimension of a picture remains the same also the color profile remains the same.
Carousel, Weaverpix and Rapidalbum work very well: they save the pictures with original sRGB profiles.
(please excuse me if I made some mistakes in English, I am Italian...)
