Major Blueball FreeStack v6.5 Theme Update Released!

Attention all FreeStack v6.1 Users!

I am very happy to announce the release of the Blueball FreeStack v6.5 theme & stacks bundle update!



This is a major update to the FreeStack v6.1 theme and stacks that includes ALL of the many FreeStack user requests that have come in along with a few bug fixes, AND a new FreeStack Contact Plus stack!

And last… Drum roll please… There's a NEW FreeStack icon design now too which will make it very easy to see if you install the new FreeStack v6.5 theme and stacks correctly, and to select them in the Stacks 2 Elements library window.

New FreeStack Contact Plus stack included in v6.5 update!
To answer the MANY FreeStack user's requests for a more secure simple contact form stack, we created the FreeStack Contact Plus stack to replace our original FreeStack Contact stack released back in late 2010 (the original Contact stack still works fine too so you can leave it as is if you want).

Developed with the help of php maestro Josh from JoshLockhart.com, this all new FreeStack Contact Plus stack features a csrf token and a hidden honey pot form field to help stop spam robot form submission. And you can customize literally any aspect of the form in this stack through its unique set of hud controls.

There's no way to list all the changes made in this FreeStack update.

As always with any theme and stacks update like this, back up your existing FreeStack v6.1 theme and stacks BEFORE you install the new FreeStack v6.5 theme and stacks. This will make sure no custom images and background images are lost during the update process.

PLEASE NOTE!!! ONLY INSTALL THIS UPDATE IF YOU ARE USING STACKS 2! The FreeStack v6.5 theme and stacks will not work with Stacks v1.4.4.

Question: One of the old stacks named "FreeStack FileShare.stack" did not get replaced by the new stack because of the difference in its name. The new stack is named "FreeStack FileShare RW5.stack" Is this an oversight? Should we delete the old stack "FreeStack FileShare.stack"?

Since this update is for Stacks 2 users there was no need for the FileShare stack since it was for RW4 and Page Assets.

The first theme I ever bought, years ago, was Blueball Classic Colors 36 - and one of the best I've ever bought, a few months ago, was FreeStack. The site I built with Classic Colors is not only still up and running, but is about to get a makeover using FreeStack.

Thanks Charlie. I hardly can't wait to see your Add-ons Pack 2. This will be an instant buy.
When I just had Freestack, it took some time to learn how it worked. But now I can't imagine how to use RW without these set of stacks.

Thanks for all the kind and positive comments on the FreeStack update everyone! They are very much appreciated.

We also just sent out a new update this morning to fix a mistake on the FreeStack v6.5 theme where the theme's preview image did not display correctly in the theme preview window in Rapidweaver due to a typo in the file name in the plist file.

PLEASE NOTE! You only need to install the FreeStack v6.55 theme file itself in the update that was sent out this morning to everyone.

My sincerest apologies for any confusion and inconvenience that this mistake may have caused you.

I've only bought your latest theme a few days ago. I have now updated the update you sent yesterday, I only had to install the 'theme' file, not the folder containing all the stacks within it, correct? Sorry if it's a silly question, but I am new to RW, and anything to do with RW.

However, I LOVE the software, love the FreeStack concept, and the Stacks 2 plugin. Everything I've been looking for to build my own website! Can't wait to get it published!

Hi Arianne, of course you also have to install the stacks. Only updating the theme doesn't work.
