On my site that I just completed www2.st-john.or.jp I had the
following problem which with the help of my provider I was able to
solve. However, I am wondering whether the same thing will occur if I
should change themes which I am considering doing. On
uploading the .php blog and contact pages the headers garbled in Japanese
for some reason. There were no problems with the rest of the site pages.
The provider did something which they didn't tell me and managed to solve
the problem. I, myself, played with the text encoding in Safari and worked out that
it wanted unicode (UTF-

to work instead of the "default" - whatever
that was. However, on checking the inspector window in Rapidweaver I see that
the site was created with UTF-8 so what the problem is I have no idea. The provider
mentioned coding only. Since I am using Eblogger for the blog page I am not having
any problems updating the blog.
Has anybody else had this kind of trouble in Japanese - especially with .php files like blog and contact pages? And, if so, how did you solve the problem?
Thanking you

For those of you who don't speak Japanese well, my concern is that whilst the provider was able to solve the original "bakemoji" (garbled) issue on upload of blog and contact pages, what would happen if I were now to change the theme. Would I get the same problem occurring again? I don't know what the provider did in the first place to undo the "bakemoji" so I am a little worried. I would like to take advantage of a new theme that has become available. However, I am a little reticent following the first encounter.
There is no problem viewing the site as is - except in the earlier versions of IE (e.g.6 where the link page doesn't line up for some reason). Furthermore, the characters don't look so nice on either IE or Firefox as compared to Safari. However, I can take that.
As I asked in my first post, has anybody had any problems with garbled blogs and contact pages (.php) and, if so, how did you solve them. I don't know what the provider did to solve the issue. I would like to know what and whether I can do the same should I need to when I change themes.
Thanking you.
