Help: Video Lightbox

Hi,

I have a video lightbox stack (flowbox), which shows a youtube video in a lightbox way, after i click on the link.

Is there a way to have the video pop up WITHOUT having to click on the link, just by entering the URL? I dont mean embedding the youtube video, I want it to be in a lightbox?

Thanks for the help.

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean the lightbox automatically pops-up when you land on the page?

This might be possible (though I'm far from sure about this) using some special code. I don't think you can do it via the flowbox stack itself. A problem would occur if you had 2 or more videos on one page (all pop up at same time).

    Thanks for the quick reply,

yes, the lightbox pops up as soon as you open the website. you then close the lightbox and you are on the websites home screen.

I asked the guys at flowbox, and they said it couldnt be done with flowbox.
If there isnt a stack that can do this, I thought of 2 other ways, but not sure if or how they work:

    1. open a website, which then automatically opens a link on that site (in my case, the video lightbox link)

    2. putting a link in the navigation bar of rapidweaver (i...: Home - Who We Are - "MY LINK" - Contact)

    Any help is greatly appreciated:

Sorry, can't help with this. Someone else may have a great idea though.

I'm not sure why you want to do this as it could be very unusual behavior for someone first coming to your website. How committed are you to this approach?

There are some very nice themes/stacks for creating a landing page (or splash page). While this doesn't solve your lightbox question, perhaps having a dedicated splash page with an embedded video would work nicely for you.

Well, my first approach was embedded video, but i found it looking terrible on iphone/ipad.

I saw the autoplay lightbox video somewhere and found it nice on both laptop and iphone,

My main goal is to make sure the visitor sees the video (ca. 30 short, can close it if he doesnt feel like it and no, its not porn...)

Thanks for ur help, if ur in munich i'll get us a couple of beers ;-)

Got it. Fully understand. I use the Flowbox stack a lot and really enjoy it. I don't mind users having to click a link: in fact, I prefer it. But I understand why you'd want a different approach.

Another very nice stack that handles video, images and more is TopBox at stacks4stacks. I don't remember off the top of my head if it's a better solution for you needs or not. But it's definitely worth looking into. Will, the developer, does great work.

    Munich & beer: sounds great!
