Adsense

I am sure I'm missing it on the forum somewhere, but can anyone direct me to an add-on or directions for using Google Adsense? I want to add some 125x125s to one of my pages; not sure how best to do that? In a sidebar?

    Hey,
You can indeed use google adsense in a sidebar. I have used it in one of my sites, but put my ads in the extracontent area as it slotted into the way I am using the theme. If you want to check it out, try here. http://www.getinthespirits.co.uk/Recipes/

Hope this has helped you a little bit

    Hiya Alerrett,

I'm not sure that you have all the info you need as yet as you asked How to do it.

If you are using Stacks just paste the adsense link code into any html stack, then put that stack where ever you want in the page or extra content areas.

If you want to put it into the sidebar it will depend if there is anything else in there already. If there isn't then select the html option and just paste in the code. If there is text or images in it then again just paste it in but then highlight the code and choose Ignore Formatting.

If you have a large site you might find it saves you time in the long run to use pluskit to import your ad into a page. For example, I also use Amazon ads that I change quite frequently. Rather than change the ad on every page, I just change it once, mark all pages as changed, then publish.

It might be easier for you to have a look through my site for ideas then come back to me with any questions. I've used Adsense and Amazon Affiliate. (I'm still trying to figure out the best sizes to use in a responsive theme).

    Other tip:
Before you embark on a whole new site using Adsense ads, check that the main content area is wide enough to accommodate the most popular ad size of 728x90 as not all themes will accommodate it.

Hi Tim, thanks for the info. I will be working on adding the banner ads this week; your info will really come in handy. I really appreciate the time and insights. That will seriously cut down my learning curve! All the best with your site as well.
