RapidLink meltdown

Hi there
I've got a store page where I'm trying to sell both physical products and digital uploads. RapidLink synched with RapidCart seemed to be a good idea. Only problem is no one I know who has half a clue about Rapidweaver can get it to work. Has anyone had a good experience combining these two plug ins ? I need to know this before I hit them for a refund.

How is this answering the question ? - this is just a link to a labyrinth.
Here's what RapidWeaver Central made of rapidlink
I feel your pain! I've tried to get RapidLink working both for myself and several clients and have given up each time and ended up using Cartloom, just for peace of mind and ease of use. If you sell enough ebooks to cover the monthly cost ($9) then I would recommend it. Otherwise I'm happy to help you with RapidLink but make no guarantee that I'll succeed in getting it working for you.
If a dedicated Rapidweaver developer can't figure it what chance to do the rest of us have. Don't be so quick to cross this one off as resolved Omnidea.

Sadly, I have to agree. I dropped the ££ on this one and have been through all the documentation but just cannot get to grips with it. It's a shame as I thought it would prevent me from paying monthly costs for Cartloom but instead I've just spent a load of money on something that I can't use. =(

I'm sure Omnidea can help you with setting it up. Surely they want their product to work.

I have used it quite extensively and I have had no problems whatsoever.

Perhaps I should clarify my position on RapidLink, seeing as my response to hamishmac was made in a private email and is quoted slightly out of context.

I have no affiliation with either product. I use Rapidcart in several of my personal projects and I use Cartloom for RapidWeaver Central. As far as I'm concerned they are different horses for different courses. I have set up Rapidcart with RapidLink successfully for three of my clients and they are very happy with it.

It's also true that in two particular cases I've been unable to set it up. And yes, it was a pain — mainly because if I can't deliver the functionality I've contracted to deliver to my client then I don't feel able to charge for the time I've taken. Which is why — having learned the hard way — I now offer no concrete guarantee that I can always make them work together.

(It should also be noted that I was unable to set it up on those two occasions because of the sheer size of the digital download in one instance, and my inability to navigate the labyrinthine workings of a foreign Paypal account in the other. Neither of these were specifically RapidLink's fault.)

Nevertheless, when clients (or potential clients like hamishmac) contact me they are often looking at the overall costs involved. Which means I have to look closely at the complexity of their ecommerce project and try to balance their needs and costs in order to come up with an estimate that is both cost-effective and realistic. As such I make my recommendations based on their individual circumstances and stated commercial needs.

Some clients turn over enough volume to justify the monthly cost and are looking for ease of setup, online editing, and various other features Cartloom offers which Rapidcart doesn't.

On the other hand I have a number of clients with lower turnover, who don't want to pay the recurring fee and are willing to put in the time themselves to configure and maintain the Rapidcart and RapidLink setup. In which case this is the perfect setup for them and makes the most sense.

Like I said, different horses for different courses.

As for the RapidLink documentation —  it's sufficient, but certainly could be a lot more detailed.
