Accept Or Reject: You Gotta Be Kidding Me!

I have only been here a short time, and I love that these forums give practical answers to RapidWeaver questions but the UI of of the forum is one of the worst I have ever experienced. Most forums look terrible but function well, this one looks great but functions terribly.

Annoying is the childish awarding of points and badges. Do the forum creators think we are all 16 and need merit badges in order to be incentivized? At age 6 that seems to work, by 16 we look disdainfully on such things but they still work, but adults seem to grow out of such things eventually.

Not highlighting the current page number at the bottom is one of those fundamentals which you would think even the most inexperienced designer would know to get right... but apparently not.

But the worst of the worst is requirement backed up by continual nag messages in the left bottom corner to 'accept' or 'reject' things that people say. Who in their right mind ever thought that a socially graceless (at best) and incredibly rude (at worst) system would be the way that any partially civilized person would want to behave. The words are emotive and I will be d***** if I am going to tell anybody that I reject their opinion unless they are being so rude they make me angry.

It wouldn't be so bad if one could just ignore the acceptance or rejection, but that nag in the bottom corner never stops.

When the UI of any web page causes users to get ticked off then the design is not working and needs to be changed. Anything would be better than that nag to accept or reject. Anything!

    I accept your comments.

No working page numbers are a little bigger deal, and the issue has been brought up multiple times, but admittedly the accept or reject concept is a little silly.

Unfortunately, your comments about points and badges, though, come across as sour grapes. I'm guessing that you are just jealous that you don't have the 1500 points needed for a RW antenna ball for your car. Personally, I'm saving my points for a RW pocket protector. Once I get 2000 points banked, that baby is mine!

Ron, now that I know that a RW antenna ball is a possibility I may waiver in my heady disdain for points such as 'earning' 17 of the apparently valuable little blighters yesterday for doing nothing more than the normal things of posting and commenting. At that rate I will get that antenna ball around the time I am ready for the nursing home... I am measuring up the antenna for it already :)

And Phew! I was lucky enough not to get rejected by you :)

An antenna ball might look pretty smart as decoration on your wheelchair in that nursing home.

Dream big, @TonyJohansen (there, I'm a few points closer to my pocket protector!).

Now that we have 'currency' in the form of points, that enables good old fashioned corruption to creep in. I wonder if I can sling RealMac a few of my points in order to make sure that my antenna ball comes in black?
