Is it possible to copy a page from one RW project to another?

Hi I have two RW projects.

One is a duplicate of the other and the intention is that one project will be my live site and the other project will be where I do all my development. What I then want to do is to delete all the pages under development from my Live Site project and only put them into the Live Site when their development is complete. So I want to be able to create new pages in the development project and then when I am happy with them copy it to the other project which I will keep as my 'Live Site'

Is this possible? If so how?

thanks

Gordon

RapidWeaver supports dragging and dropping pages between projects, so with both projects open you should be able to accomplish this.

    Gordon,

Yes, this is possible. Just have both site files open at the same time and you can drag a page from the listing of pages in one site and drop it onto the listing of pages in the second site.

I'm not sure if all of the "settings" will carry over... so you'd need to double-check everything in the Page Inspector, but most everything SHOULD translate.

You simply open both projects and drag your page from the left hand menu pane of one site to the target spot in the other site. Just out of curiosity, is there a reason why you are taking this approach? I develop new pages all the time in my site, but in the Page inspector I uncheck "show in menu" and "enable" until I am ready to fully incorporate/activate the new page.....

    Hi everyone,

thanks for your help. Sounds like it is easy enuff to do exactly what I need (gee I love RW!)

Guru: I am doing this cos I dont want to fill up the webserver with pages I dont use. Thats all. Its just me being a bit picky I guess. I am looking to keep control on what is actually released onto the webserver.

    Have a great weekend

    Hi Gordon,

As Amy points out, if you go to the Page Inspector for that/those pages and "uncheck" the "Show in Menu" and "Enable" boxes the page you added won't show in the Site Navigation and won't get published to your Host Directory. :)

Oh, thought they were still published, just not visible!

    Thats even better.

    thanks

I just tried this by unchecking both the "Show in Menu" and "Enable" check box in Page inspector. I disabled all except 2 pages, but RW is attemping to publish all of my pages. Reading above I thought it should only publish the enabled pages to the webserver...?

Has the functionality changed or did I miss something?

    thanks
