Ever wanted more than 3 columns or columns with or without column space?

FlexGrid breaks free from the fixed width... In the HUD you can choose the column width of each column - 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 columns with or without column space. You can choose to align the grid left on page, right or center. In other words... place your stacks on your stacks page - where you want...
The FlexGrid is 10 stacks: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 column stacks.
Flexgrid replaces the 960 - 840 - 720 stacks.

PS: Love note #5 on your contact page. I'm in Hawaii, so we can probably converse quite well, as I think we are exactly 12 hours apart. To fix your sleep problem, you need Wesley's auto dialing stack that allows visitors to place a call to you directly from your website. Perhaps the scariest stack of all, if you don't turn the phone off at bedtime.

Realmac never got their table attempt very far. That's a shame. Would have made things a little easier... I think. That's why I've been crying for solutions... But tables the good old fashioned way has been predicted the death for a long time. CSS will rule the world - and tables... and there's a nice css solution too. Only problem is... worlds favorite browser Internet Explorer - and especially 7. And we will have to deal with IE 7 for another year or maybe a little longer. A little statistic I read couple of weeks ago tells us that IE7 and IE6 still counts for aprox 18-19% of all IE users. It's too many to ignore...
Anyway... 960 (the 960-840-720 stacks are replaced by the much more flexible FlexGrid stacks) is much more simple than both Mansory and TableBildr. But what is does and does good is allowing you to layout your page horizontally. This is good when working with many columns and rows. I have chosen 960 - cause it's a magic number. As mentioned - can be decided with 1-2-3-4-5-6-8-10 and leave us with an integer.
A theme with a width of 960 (if not flexible / fluid width) will not work. Has to be wider... because of margin / padding of th theme. Or as mentioned has to be flexible / fluid layout. Blueballs FreeStack set to variable / fluid layout works great. Or 1060 - 1160 pixels width.
I did the stacks cause I like being able to layout a page horizontally. I'm more a visual guy than a code guy
And Tami - Hover effect... shouldn't be too hard I think. Isn't there a hover stack around? It might work though I haven't tested it. I'll look into it. But what I have tested is a little fun effect with Joe Workmans Cycler Stack and the 960... I'll make an example during the weekend.

I think... only a few will use 8 and 10 columns. If you don't need them, don't install them.
The coconut example is just a layout example. Not really a shop example. Though... I believe you can create a shop using stacks and... one of the online cart shop services (Cartloom and kulersolutions e-store stack set solution?). Haven't really looked into it. Or tested it. In my opinion it's easier using one of the dedicated 3-4 rapidweaver 3d party shop solutions... plugins. But... it's a matter of taste and layout I think
I used to use... e-junkie and was really happy with the solution. Cheap and... now I use RapidCart and RapidLink and is really happy with the solution too. It's cheaper. No monthly pay. And easy to set up with Paypal. But I believe that cartloom - though more expensive - is preferred by the number of pro stack developers!?
Loading 12 stacks to a library that's already... loaded - might seem overwhelming. I have aprox 280 stacks at the moment !!! And counting! I'm a stack'o'holic

What I'm really looking forward to is going camping with my 9 year old son next week. Our yearly one week camping. I'm in Denmark. Have had 9 summer holidays so far... 7 rainy days. This is why and how I managed to do the 960 stacks
Favorite online service would be... WEATHER EXCHANGE! Don't you miss rainy days sometimes? I'd gladly swap a few

The stack can be used in each cell... though I'm not sure how it'll behave if 20-30-40 hover stacks are added!?
On ThemeFlood's domain you'll also find the free Link Stack... creates a box container within a page. The container acts as a giant button to a URL. Link Box is clever, in that it will scan through stacks placed inside itself and use the first link it comes across as the main URL.
Another way of using the ThemeFlood hover box would be... changing a 3 column to a 4-5-6 column to create a nice surprising effect.
And beside that - if you short of a theme, take a look at Themeflood's huge amount of free themes. There's some really really good looking free themes in the collection.

Makes it easy creating a 'grid' with product / product links. Show a picture, a little text, the hover effect shows a little more and a click takes you to the desired page.
ThemeFloods hover-stack is genious, links to the first link it find's... no complicated setup. Should be in every stack toolbox.

Only difference to the 960 and 720 is the width.

+ 2 helper stacks (same as the 960 and 720).
The 840 is a paid upgrade.

I've also created - also by request from users - a 9 stacks expansion package to the 960.
2, 3 and 4 columns in a 5 column grid.
Sometimes it's nice having columns with a wider width for ie pictures.
The 960 extra are free for all who bought the original 960 stacks,
and free for all who buy the original 960 stacks before august 10.
If you only want to 'grid' your site in 2-3-4 columns in a 5 column grid you actually don't need the original 960 stacks. Both the original 5 column and the two helper stacks are included.
Just like the original 960 you can create a grid with or without column-space.

I've just relesed a new small 'update' (or 960 freebee) to the 960 stacks. A new 'intelligent' helper stacks.
E-mail has been sent out. If you didn't receive it... look in your mail junk folder. And if it isn't there - shoot me an e-mail.
It does one thing only... allows you to add a background picture to the stack.
You probably got one or two stacks that does this already... so how is this different?
Take a look at the hud!
To add a background picture you only need to drag an image to the resources area and type the name of the picture (in the hud). You don't need to write the path or upload first before previewing your layout / pictures.
Say... you want to reuse a picture as a stack background on several stack pages - you just need to import the picture to the resources area - and have the stack link the resource picture (just type the filename, no path... the stack figures out the path.)
Of course... this stack works with any theme. Cause the New RapidWeaver 5 macro does't work from css file - you'll only be able to see the background image in preview mode. But (important) you don't need to ftp upload pictures first! It'll work 5 sub levels down (should be enough).
The stack is free for all who bought the 960 - 840 and 720 stakcs - and you might just be able to keep your RapidWeaver file size down because the 960 BgResources file uses the resources area. If you reuse a picture you won't have to add it to every page! This is called warehousing.
It's Safari, Crome, Firefox, IE 7, 8 and 9 compatible.

There's a very very good reason why Isaiah only created a 1, 2 and 3 column stack... dam good reason. The reason is internet explorer. 7 is a nightmare - you know that - 8 ain't to good either, but we still have to create web solutions that'll work with 7 and 8 for... some time.
I've created the first 20 stacks... that didn't work in IE. Tried this, tried that. Changed this, changed that. Till I finally came up with a solution that worked. But I had to make some trade-off's! There's a stack for each column width. 1-2-3-4-5-6-8-10 columns. And two/three helper stacks. The solution is 11 stacks. Hopefully Yourhead will make it easier to organize stacks in the future - in folders... is my wish, but I don't know.
It's not the ultimate solution! The ultimate solution would allow you to define the width of each cell... i tried this solution too - but couldn't get the calculations to work. Though I'm sure - my math was correct. I have not completely given up... but couple of years from now - we have full css3/4 and html5 integration - and IE 7 and 8 will have gone to browser heaven or hell. We will work with totally different stacks by then. Well... if Isaiah doesn't come up with another revolutionary plugin
To your question... take a look at the image. This is what the 960 grid offers. 8 fixed column width. Can't be changed - on the fly or in the hud. I created an xtra 960 5-column stack with alternative width... 9 stacks giving your more design 'freedom'. I could do this with any number of columns... but - I'd have to create tons of stacks to do it. Might be a little crowded in the Stacks Library.
I did create 840 and 720 grid stacks for themes with smaller width. I'm concidering a 900 width (1-2-3-4-5-6 columns). This will be free to all who bought the 960 - and want the 900 width stacks.

I'm sure it will and can be done... but we need to kill the old browsers first.
But what it does - the 960 stacks - is allowing you to work with 1-2-3-4-5-6-8-10 columns. Something I needed and wanted to be able to... to choose whether I wanted to work with or without the column width. And work with more than 3 columns.
Didn't think there would be any point in creating 12, 15, 16, 20, 24 columns. Will also almost be impossible to work with in Stacks.
Anyway - theres a free demo on the website. Couple of 5 column stacks.

But creating a grid: width 960 px and the popular 12 column 60 px columns - being able to adjust number of columns, the width between the columns, the size of the columns - I don't think it's possible - at the moment ' with RapidWeaver and Stacks... and supporting IE 7/8.
But I might be wrong !
I don't know if it's possible to work with a 12 columns in RapidWeaver... 16 is impossible. Not to create a stack with 12 or 16 columns. You won't be able to squeeze contents into the cells!
The Blocks plugin is better suited for that purpose. But... Blocks doesn't have all the nice things Stacks offers.
