PAYLOOM 2 - INTERNET EXPLORER 8 PROBLEMS

Tearing my hair out here - I have built a website which includes Payloom 2 pages.

On a Mac computer it works fine using Safari and Firefox.

On a Windows PC computer it doesn't work properly. If I use Internet Explorer 8 or Safari the shopping cart does not hold it's purchases between different pages. Curiously using Firefox it works ok.

I use URL forwarding to my domain name - if I set it so that my domain name appears in the address bar on every page this is when the problems start.

If I remove the masking option the website performs with no problems.

I would obviously prefer to use the masking option as it makes for a neater option in the address bar.

Any thoughts?

You can see my problem first hand at www.fuertecrystals.com - put an item in the cart on the necklaces page - go to another page and put another item in the cart and you will see that the first item has vanished!

Would appreciate some help.

Thanks.

    Hi,

I am having similar problems with I.E. 8 and Payloom 2. I.E. 8 completely destroys the page. Did you find a solution yet? I'm very disappointed and frustrated that I may have to abandon Payloom 2. The page MUST work in I.E. 8. That is the browser of choice the majority of customers are using. If I can not get Payloom 2 to work properly in I.E. 8 on the PC, I will be forced to abandon it and search for an alternative product. =(

Please view my test page in Safari on The Mac. (PERFECT!) Then try to view the same page in I.E. 8 on the PC! (TOTALLY DESTROYED AND UNUSABLE!)

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear you are having problems - so frustrating I know. Unfortunately I don't really have any good news for you. The only way I managed to get my website working in IE8 was to "unmask" the website address. My website sits on the Mac webspace and my domain name is with Doominio.com. Ideally I want the domain name to come up on every page but alas the techies at Payloom 2 informed me that the only way this is possible is to have your website where the domain name is held. Sorry I can't be of any further assistance. If you type in fuertecrystals.com in the address bar all the internet browsers go there but my web.me.com address shows in the address bar. A real pain.

    Hope this helps.

Just getting ready to purchase RW and Payloom 2 in order to convert our home business site from Frontpage. Fortunately (I guess) I noticed this thread. So before I start down this path, I was wondering if this problem has been resolved. If not, are there alternative shopping cart options that don't cause a problem with I.E.? Thanks for any updates. Hi 3mors, thanks for your suggestion. I've looked at Rapidcart3 and it looks great - but so did PayLoom2. What's the saying about "once burned"? I also read a post that PayLoom2 doesn't support carts on iPhone or iPad - both also essential - and haven't had a response back from YabDab to verify that. It's hard to believe. Problems with IE8, problems with Apple products - these are not bugs they're major omissions that should be clarified on the specs page. If they're true. So I'm worried I'm missing something with Rapidcart3. I will contact them to find out, but would also be grateful for any direction you can provide. Thanks so much. Clarissa

It's a saying - "once burned twice shy." In this case if PayLoom doesn't run on IE8 or iPhone/iPad OS it should be indicated on their site. Like I said, maybe I missed this on their site or maybe it's really not a problem. But until I hear otherwise, I feel I got burned & am very wary that another product site will fail to indicate significant technical issues with their product. Thanks for your help. Clarissa

Again, thanks so much. I downloaded RapidCart3 yesterday and gave it a try. I love it. It's a much much better product - more functions and flexibility in setting up the catalogue, more billing options, and it runs on the systems that we require. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. I wish I'd seen it in the first place. (Why didn't I?!) Thanks again. Clarissa

Fortunately I saw the original posts on this website - after I'd bought PayLoom but at least before I started work. I would've been furious! I called my credit card company and they credited the $29.95 back to my account. I told them the product didn't work and I was unable to make contact with technical support. Realmac might want to pull PayLoom from their listing - or at least specify its limitations. As it is, it's making them and Yabdab look bad. Clarissa

I would like to apologize for my previous hasty negative post. I was able to get my Payloom store up and running, and actually I think it came out pretty well. I did download the trial version of Rapidcart and started playing with it, but I had put so much time and energy into my Payloom shop that I decided to give it one last shot. I think some third party themes might be a little tricky with Payloom, try the cart out on your theme first with just one or two items uploaded, before you spend 12 hours on the project and have to start over. Anyway, this is my payloom site, and I am happy with it, so thank you Yabdab, and sorry again for being a beotch. http://bodymindspiritsm.com/shop/shop.html
