    Hello

It´s an interesting site with a lot of content.

Now - how shall I beginn? Okay. I´ve got something like the black belt in typography and my remarks come from this point of view ;-)

    #1
The sidebar after the homepage is a bit confusing. Go one step back and take a look from the distance ;-) This bunch of icons and buttons - isn´t it distracting? (see screenshot)

    #2
I don´t like pop-up items like "FREE TRIAL CLASS". It´s distracting. And annoying because I click it away and a short amount of time later it´s appearing again. As a visitor I made the decision that I don´t want to get this information but it´s appearing again and again. It´s somehow like sitting in the garden and trying to enjoy a piece of cake while a hornet is following the same interest …
    (just kidding)

The menu items are redouble - see screenshot. For me this seems confusing.

    Kind regards

#1 Distracting.. yes I can see that a bit.. I will look into that and maybe rearrange the side bar.. ....good call...

#2. I see that too.... I don't do that on clients websites (they don't like it).. why do I?
I wil have to change that too I think....?

#3 I am really not sure what you mean by this? Do you not like the Black Tab button?

    Thanks for you input...!!

Anybody else see these things too..???

BTW Contetix.. this started from my first website started in 1998 using Adobe PageMill! Have you heard of that?

I have about 40 pages of content built up over the years.... do you see how I have just 5 pages showing first.... for the new potential student? ..... but have many more for more pages for the experienced martial artists to see my history and knowledge?

    Again.. thanks for you time.....

    Hello Karate Ducati

I think I can understand your point. By the way - I have the same challenge: there is so much to be said and it´s a real challenge to choose the parts which are the best to convince potencial new clients.

May I dare a comparison? Somehow creating a website is similar to Karate. It´s a matter of concentrating on the "partner" (I don´t want to use the term opponent in this case). And much more it´s a matter of choosing the adequate strike or movement. If you try to perform all the powerful movements you know at once, it might look pretty dynamic but I think you´ll fall flat on the flace ;-)
(I admit that my Karate-experience is confined to watching Karate-Kid)

Maybe there is another point: cultural differences in perception.
I studied Typography with one of the best Typographers in Europe - but it was the delicate art of book typography. We turned our attention to create typography that makes text visually as readable as possible AND to make the authors hdiden messages visible.

Typography for the web has other rules, of course. But I think it´s important to create clear visual guides which lead the visitors of a website to your message AND create confidence in the truth of your words.
My teacher in drawing reapated one sentence again and again - and the older I get the better I understand what he meant. The sentence is:

    " Less is more"

And here we get back to Karate. One perfectly performed strike is much more efficient than whirling with arms and legs like a windmill on an ecstasy trip.

(Now I hope that my humble English is capable to impart my thoughts.)

    Kind regards

    contetix

PS: I´ve heard about PageMill but never used it.

    I forgot to mention #3

    The Black Tab looks cool.
What I find visually confusing is the overlapping of the oval buttons and that the name of the specifc active page appears twice.

I made some minor changes to the sidebar....still thinking the best way to put links etc...

"Less is more", ..I agree.....its how I teach martial arts.....

I like to think its how I create websites too.. unfortunately(?)... I need another set of eyes to pick out the obvious, that I overlook.....

    Hello,

I like your website it has a clean, uncluttered look and is easy to navigate. I was able to quickly find a lot of information (and I know nothing about Martial Arts) and the blog page looks good.

The only recommendation I'd give would be to either move or get rid of the black overlapping tab in the top left. It's overlapping the KMA Home tab and is distracting whatever page you're on. Also on the location page make your map bigger it will make the page look better.
