Lion has changed my Rapidweaver Life

richardmapsrichardmaps Chester, EnglandPosts: 31Members
Just want to share my experience to upgrading to Lion last week. I just love Rapidweaver but I used to get a lot of crashes. Crashes when I saved sometimes and crashes when I moved from page to page. I never complained but just put up with it. I was using Rapidweaver 5.2.1. When I tried to upgrade to 5.2.2 I got problems with exporting so always went back to 5.2.1. Now I have upgraded to Lion and then to Rapidweaver 5.2.2 my life has changed. Pages seem to open slightly quicker and I have had my first whole week without any Rapidweaver crashes. Fantastic.

That's good to hear! I've been putting off the upgrade to Lion. And how are you finding Lion generally... Any issues with other apps?

Still Rapidweaver is rock solid. No crashing since I moved to Lion. My projects are large. To tackle this I am using Joe Workman's Warehouse Image for all new illustrations and starting to convert some of the older material to warehoused files. It was only the impending loss of Mobile Me that made me upgrade but wish I had done it sooner now. Had to upgrade my Parallels Desktop but other than that all apps working fine. Now just trying to get used to all the new features but thanks to ScreenCastleOnline tutorials which have made it easier to take it all in.

Yes, that is indeed good to hear. I hope for the same results when I upgrade to the next iMac release with Mountain Lion OS later this summer. I too have endured my fair share of crashes and always thought it was the code rewrite of RW5's causing its lack of stability. If it turns out it is my old 2006 iMac with Snow Leopard that aided in the cause of crashes that would be alleviated by a new computer and most current OS, then I owe Nik and the team a BIG MEA CULPA! I love Rapidweaver so I put up with the crashes but I really wish I didn't have to.

I have had no issues with Lion, either with RW or other programs. Put it on my wife's air as well. I guess it's been several months, and the hardest to get used to was the scrolling, especially in excel, but once you get the hang of it, everything is more productive.

I might have added to my stability by increasing ram to 8 gb in this macbook pro, but even those chips are cheap now.
