New DooBox Contact Page Stack

RicinportRicinport Posts: 148Members
Hi

I received a notification yesterday of a new contact page stack from DooBox that uses html.

I don't know the about its' benefits over php but as I was looking for something more flexible than RW's built in contact page I thought it might be worth a look.

I note this is for use with a RW html page but being a stacks only type person using the FreeStacks theme I wondered if I could place the DooBox contact page stack in a Stacks 2 page by placing it in the standard html stack that comes with Stacks 2.

I was going to ask this direct but the DooBox site is currently unavailable.

Any advice great fully received as always.

Cheers

Ric

    Hi Ric,

I don't have Gary's new stack, but why not just drop the stack onto the Stacks page in the FreeStack Theme?

Or are you trying to do something different with it?

Ric: It seems like you are way over thinking this. You can drop the mail stack into a Stacks page all on its lonesome: it doesn't need to be placed inside an HTML stack.

And, while this stack works with HTML extension pages, it also works with PHP extension pages. So if you are using a page that needs to be PHP due to some of the other stacks on the page, this contact stack will still work perfectly fine.

    Hi Ed and Mitch

You are, of course, both stating the 'bleeding obvious' that I always seem to miss. (You may recall my vertical line question).
At the end of the day it is just a stack after all, so of course it's designed for a Stacks page. It just threw me a bit in the description talking about an html page.
    Thanks to you both.
I need to think before I post.

    Hi Ric,

No problem. I think Gary's new stack is a nice addition. Some folks have to struggle with certain Host Providers when it comes to 'php' Contact Forms.

Gary's provided a simple way to use an 'HTML' type form to get the job done.

I like Gary's new stack very much. I've struggled many times with contactforms (3rd party) and this one is very solid. But I miss the possibility for turn off (and on) the "requiered" fields + changing the text of the error messages (i'm belgian , so this would be better in my own language). Maybe an extra field or 2 (optional) would be great also :-)

Hi all, can anyone please help me with the following.
Using latest stacks and DooBox contact.
I seem to get an error when I click send.
Please feel free to give it a go below.
I have entered an email address in contact settings.
    Thanks

Very odd indeed. Did you have another contactform before doobox's? If yes, see if there isn't a .php file left in the folder (ftp) and it's best to "re-publish all pages" to have a clean slate.

This stack solved a problem for me - I used the contact stack in Gary's Teleporter stack to get a neat compact form in the sidebar of a page. I'd been using @import before and having to put code in the PREFIX section of the inspector etc.

Worked a treat and so easy to set up - email coming through etc.

Only one thing puzzles me; on the email from the form I get two field headings.

    So:

    NameName: Joe Bloggs
    emailemail: Joe@etc.

    anyone else have this?

I believe this may be because you are using it with the teleporter stack. As there will now be 2 instances of the form on the page, one hidden.
I will run some tests and see if i can add some logic to the contact form stack to enforce only one submission.

    The stack has me confused.
I was happy when I heard that it is possible to have a contact form in a html page.

    Text on doobox Stacks Store:
"The HTML Contact Form Stack: Works without PHP page
WORKS IN STANDARD HTML STACKS PAGE. NO NEED TO CHANGE YOUR PAGE EXTENSION TO PHP."

But the "HTML Contact Form Stack" requires a php webhosting server in the background. And there is no word about that, it annoys me.

. . . and how did you manage to find a web hosting serve without PHP service? That's standard these days.
