Flash or HTML5 for video? Depends on viewer’s machines or browsers?

I’m going to be using Joe Workman’s Vimeo Stack and there is a choice to use HTML5 or Flash. While Flash is going to be fading, the reality is that many, many people in offices that do not have up-to-date machines, browsers and setups will be viewing this file. My audience will not be high-tech types with the latest and greatest.

What is the best strategy to follow to make sure as many people as possible are able to access the Vimeo file? If I use Vimeo HTML5 and the viewer doesn’t have a browser that supports it (not even sure which browser doesn’t), will it default to Flash? What about if they don’t even have Flash?

What’s the best way to go on this?

How to enable php?

This may be a dumb question, but do I have to do something to enable php? For the past few days I’ve been back and forth with Yabdab support trying to get FormSnap working properly (Right now my forms are saying they’ve been sent successfully, but they never show up in my e-mail inbox). The latest response from Yabdab support basically said that the success message means that the script has been generated and sent successfully, and that it could be a problem with the host not allowing php emails. However, I’ve had several lengthy conversations with my hosting company (Bluehost) and they even set up a sample php email to prove that that is not the issue.

When I first downloaded FormSnap, I was able to receive form emails with no issue. However, I recently had to remake much of my site, including forms, and now I’m having this problem, which makes me wonder if I had some kind of php setting enabled on the old site? How would I check that?

website etiquette and browsers

Is there some kind of website code I don’t know about?
This woman emailed me from my site and she was all in a snit about my website.

She couldn’t find my phone number - well it is on EVERY page at the bottom in a brightly colored footer. Now this footer is in extra content and when she looked at her OTHER computer she could see it. Is there some kind of browsers that wouldn’t display extra content areas?

Then she told me that MOST websites have the nav bar at the top or on the left - NOT on the right and that was an issue I should address. ????

Somebody clue me in?

“Invalid E-Mail Format” Error

I just launched my business page, built with RW 5. All of my contact forms were created using FormSnap, and right now none of them are working properly. Upon submission, I get an error that says “Invalid E-mail Format.” I consulted the help page for FormSnap, but all it says is this:

Invalid Email
Email address formatting validation is built into FormSnap. On an input field selected as the REPLY TO item in the HUD of this stack, FormSnap will verify that the input is formatted as an email address (including @ and acceptable TLD extension).

Unfortunately, I have no idea what that means, and it does not help me fix my problem.

Full-blown background image

Is it possible to get a full background picture in my website too? This one in the link even changes the size, when I make the window smaller/bigger. It’s just so cool!

Anyone has experience how to do it?

When I was using Rapidweaver 4, users could print our webpages and they turned out very nicely. When I upgraded to Rapidweaver 5, this feature was lost. Is there anyway to for users to be able to print as before?

Keyboard shortcuts

I am now on my third site using rapidweaver, the latest one being a manual type format for a business. There is a lot of text to style. I prefer to use keyboard shortcuts as much as possible but cannot find how to apply heading styles H1,2,3 etc with the keyboard. Are there any shortcuts for these?

Buttons in RW

Using RW 5.0.

I have a Button that I’d like to use in a new site that I am making but instead of having a simple, inactive image sitting on the site with a link, I’d like to be able to have it do something such as bounce or glow like a hover button.

Is there a way to accomplish this in RW? Or perhaps a Stack that is compatible with Stacks 2.0 that will allow me to use this image as a button in that manner?

Wordpress Blog Help Please

Hi folks

I know there are a few ppl on the forums who work within rw and wordpress and I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me step by step instructions on how to setup a wp blog page please. Its a bit of an experiment to see how easy and flexible wordpress would be for me to use.

For example I have created a page and called it blog but its not like setting up a blog page in rw where you just add the info, am a bit confused. ( I have no idea on how to set up the page or even input the content )

Two data files opening instead of one

Since upgrading to Lion, on starting RW, it opens up two copies of my website. Sometimes the copies are identical while other times, one is valid and the other is corrupted, with pages missing, the wrong theme, etc. There is only on rwsw file by this name on any of my drives, so it’s duplicating the file on load.

Closing the file before exit, will stop it from duplicating on opening only once, then it goes back to duplication.

Deleting plist files hasn’t seemed to stop it.

Any ideas how to stop the duplication?
