First off, hats off to the great guys at Realmac for this wonderful piece of software. My thanks!
Now on to the good stuff~
RapidWeaver already has a framework in place that automatically exports link tags relevant to the theme options developers build into their themes. There is also a framework in place that links color options to a specific CSS file so we can build color pickers into our themes as well.
I’d like to propose for RapidWeaver to add another framework, perhaps based on what is already in place, so that theme developers can add iPhone specific options in our themes. I see this as being very similar to the color option framework RapidWeaver already uses, and am hoping (can’t say for sure because I don’t have access to the code base) this is relatively simple to implement since similar features are already available.
A couple of notes for the Realmac guys:
- The exported link tags for iPhone specific options need to be different, with a media attribute of “only screen and (max-device-width: 480px)” - This is Apple’s recommended method for targeting iPhone users.
- Since the iPhone is smart enough to recognize all stylesheets, iPhone specific ones will need to come last so that desktop stylesheets don’t interfere with iPhone layout options

Throughout the years I have seen great many products that have come to the surface and shine for a while, only to lose their momentum and quality of position on the bleeding edge of technology.
Many would not allow their technology to grow beyond their own dreams and ambitions, which were phenomenal at the time, but became as banal as their limitation to grow with the momentum they created.
The greatest protectors of intellectual property are those who share your dream of innovation and wish to make it something better than it currently is.
Realmac, listen to your user base, listen to your product development base, listen to those who create themes and plugins that exemplify your product, for it is these who share your goals and are committed to what you started. Your success is predetermined upon their willingness to remain with you.

Vanity asks the question, “is it popular?”
Conscience asks the question, “Is it right?”
There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, political or popular.
One must do it because conscience tells him it is right.
I am working with the Glide theme of Nimblehost. I would like to say he made a great work!!. It’s realy perfect. I am very proud of these guys.
Please Realmac, listen to us and make this posible so we can make the best sites on the Web.
We can do it together!!

Hi all,
While I have voted yes, I feel there are more beneficial things that could be added to the API/SDK and RapidWeaver system.
Things like optional Site Wide Assets with it’s own FTP manager (you can review whether those 35 images that haven’t changed really need to be uploaded again) would kill so many issues, styled text header and footer for Contact Form and Photo Album stopping so many page imports, these things would improve the stability and efficiency or building sites for so many.
I wouldn’t like to choose exactly what is to be the order of adding new features. Realmac will never please all of us!
with best regards,
Karn.

I think this would be a great feature.
iPhone/iPod Touch usage is obviously growing quickly, so this would help address a sizeable and increasing audience.
But beyond that - it would be a cool and distinctive feature for Rapidweaver!

I voted yes but only if they also include the iPad as special support. I would be disappointed if I visited a RW site and got the iPhone page because Safari thinks it is running the iPhone OS. I won’t know if this actually happens until the iPad ships (I get my 3G version late April). But the idea is plausible.

The Mac 512 http://www.mac512.com (using Rapidweaver with Stacks)
Jet Set Life US http://www.jetsetlife.us (using Rapidweaver with Blocks and Stacks)
2 business sites - http://www.gemtreasuresdesigns.com & http://www.24krosegoddess.com (using Rapidweaver and Rapidcart)
Other add ons to make the magic work: RapidBlog, RapidFlickr, SiteMap, Carousel, Collage2, and FAQMaker.

Fortunately this is something you won’t have to worry about, though I do understand the reasoning behind your statement. Adding iPhone-specific options is a simple matter of adding a certain link tag:
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="only screen and (max-device-width: 480px)" href="mobileStylesheet.css" />
Note the “max-device-width: 480px” - this means the iPad couldn’t be mistaken for an iPhone since it has a screen resolution much higher than 480px. It’s nice to know we don’t have to worry about this sort of thing. ![]()

Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Since I am using three of your themes already for sites, I am all set and don’t’ have to worry. ![]()

Hi Guys
Whilst we’ve got a ticket for this in our bug tracker, I can’t say when - or if - such a feature would appear. These things aren’t typically ‘easy’ to add - they need developement, testing, documentation and design time to work - however we’ve got this noted for future consideration.
Cheers!
Nik
RapidWeaver is brilliant web design software but it’s still important to stay ahead of the curve. Some experts say that, by 2015, more users will access the internet by mobile devices than by desktops. Let’s get ready.
I’d like to have the options to have different themes for a mobile viewer than for a desktop viewer. A re-direct built in would be cool.
