• New drop down menu width settings
• Menu font size now scales
• 100% font setting reinstated
• Font sizes now specified in increments of .5%
• Changes to photo album page formatting
• Built in theme user guide and version tracker
• New selection of web-safe and semi web-safe fonts for headers and content
• Width settings now specified in increments of 50px
• Padding issue on Fancy Zoom modal windows fixed
• Menu bar can now be positioned top or bottom of header
• Better print.css file for improved page printing results
• Amended formatting of photo and movie headers
• Code grouping and commenting improved for easier custom editing
• Added 1.00em line height setting
• Sidebar widths now specified in increments of 25px

New RapidWeaver Snippets included:
+ PHP last updated date stamp script
+ Align site title and site slogan right
+ Apply gradient background to content container
+ Fixed screen badges
+ Remove margins top and bottom of main container
+ Apply background images to menu bar and drop-downs
+ Remove padding around the content container
+ Apply CSS3 rounded corners on header and footer
+ Create a second drop down menu on the right
+ Make the menu bar semi-transparent
+ Apply background gradient to the sidebar
+ Make footer container semi-transparent
+ Apply a background image to the footer
+ Custom header height
(All stacks and snippets here work with Media)

Other changes:
A selection of Photoshop and Pixelmator templates are included. These enable you to create your own Aurora, Cloud or Bokeh effects. Use the “Colour Fill” layer in each file to apply your own colours or gradients. These can be saved as JPG files and inserted into the theme.  Alternatively you can import your own images like photographs or embed Flash animations within the header. Media supports the new SWF flash format offered in BannerZest 2.0 so you can create iPhone-safe Flash banners.

In previous versions of Media, the Google search bar had to be configured manually by editing code within the index.html file. As of version 1.2, the search bar is now powered by RapidSearch 4 which makes it far easier to setup and maintain. This also means search results are presented within your website and visitors are no longer taken to an external page in a new window to view search results.

A version of Media is also available on request with the Mediabox Advanced modal window already built in and fully tested, ready for use. grin

Big doesn’t quite describe. Gargantuan, perhaps? It’ll take me all afternoon just to grok all the changes. Downloading update now. Thanks Will.

“Click here for the user guide” as a menu item is too cool.

To be honest, quite a lot of them are minor changes. Cosmetically the theme is not much different from the original. Most of the changes have been relating to theme settings and the way they are deployed within the theme. Probably the biggest change was the switch from a custom search script to RapidSearch.

Hi Will, thanks for this great update! grin

In the announcement you’re saying “A selection of Photoshop and Pixelmator templates are included”, but I cannot find them in my download folder “News Media 1.1” ...?

Hi Matthias,
There are no templates supplied with the News Media theme. News Media is a separate theme update to this one (they’re different themes). That being said though, if you need any templates for headers or banners in News Media, let me know.

Hi Will, thank you for your very quick answer! Aargh, I’ve simply mistook News for NewsMedia. Sorry for the confusion ... grin

That is a very cool feature!

I worked on testing this with Will and I think I can say “Nobody sweats the small details like Will”.  Excellent update, my friend!

It’s called “Theme Friday”. I try to release a new free theme for the RapidWeaver community every Friday. Some are new themes, some are old themes abandoned by other developers and some are just simply “that would make a nice theme” type designs. It is simply my idea to share something nice (and useful) with the RapidWeaver community and promote my skills as a theme developer.

I didn’t see any mention of it so I’m not sure if you are aware, but does this update fix the forced borders on html tables?

Media 1.3 (which coincidently is due out this week) should fix issues with table and text formatting which were caused by an over-enthusiastic CSS reset. The update contains some other minor modifications and new features, so you’ll have some more reading to do!  wink

If there’s anything else you want considered for this update, please let me know.
