Welcome to the our brand new video stack symVideo5.

You already know we are big fans of using video in RapidWeaver .

Today we have brought you a super simple approach in helping you bring pure HTML 5 Video to your RapidWeaver Stacks pages, whilst ensuring that browsers that do not support it, can still see the video content via a flash player as a fall-back.

Key Features:

  * True HTML 5 playback H.264 and Ogg Theora Video files
  * Automatic Flash Fallback for browsers that do not support the HTML 5 video tag
  * Variable Width and height settings for your HTML5 videos
  * One time setup of the Flash Player Width and height for fallback mode
  * Use external warehoused urls (saves space in your RapidWeaver project)

symVideo5 out of the box requires that you warehouse you media on your server. This is not only a good practice but you will both lighten the size and speed up publishing of your RapidWeaver project.

Included in the download package is an 18 page user manual.

Not only does the manual cover stack usage and implementation to your RapidWeaver project .
I also share with you some excellent tips on using Video for Web, converting video (h.264 and ogg theora) to use with symVideo5 in order for your pages to completely support HTML5 Video.

We also have a special discount to SupportCasts.com giving you 5USD off a 6 or 12 month membership included in symVideo5 manual - (support heading) this special discount is available till 31st March 2010.

You can now start to take advantage of HTML 5 Video today whilst ensuring other browsers can still see your video content and just like our previous stacks we try to automate as much as possible so you can get on with delivering projects for clients.

Go grab your copy of symVideo5 now and view the short demo we have in video format of course wink

I should also point out that symVideo5 is automatically included in our All stacks Bundle , get all our stacks for 70USD also available online.

Enjoy

Thank you Guys!

That is a Stack that goes totally in the right direction! I purchased it immediately because I think there is no easier way to use HTML 5 (with backup flash support for IE) That Stack is really easy to use.

Thank you for making it possible to use the latest and greatest technology! wink

Keep it going!

THX Mani

I think the world would be a much happier and safer place without IE ...

News Update:

Now Opera 10.5 beta (Mac) available today fully supports HTML 5 Video playback.

No nasty looking QuickTime playback or Flash was involved, just our great new stack

Hey so I realy want to get this stack but I want to be able to make a video gallery with it. Right now I’m using the Flowbox Stack to do that and it’s great but something that works with HTML5 would be so much better.

HI there

See Video http://symfonip.com/products/symmedia5.php

Is it possible to have the gallery displayed - but the videos themselves come up in Mediabox Advanced?  As you can see in the screenshot below, I have a gallery of thumbnails, each representing a different WMV file.  When clicked, the video is displayed in a Mediabox (which is built into the theme I’m using).

Many thanks,

Dave

since you are using MediaBox which comes with a built in Flash Player I cannot comment. WMV is a Windows media format so you will need silverlight to play this back no doubt ?

symMedia5 has a scroller with thumbnails and a player display, if the browser does not support HTML 5 Video then it will fall back automatically to the FlowPlayer Flash Player. Our user manual does go into a bit more detail in regards to which formats of video you will need for HTML5.

I like this Stack too. The manual is excellent. Well written with almost everything explained in succinct way.  But, I wonder if I am doing something wrong because the player controls don’t come up easily on my Ipad. They seem to hide under the poster/still image and appear after some of the movie is loaded. I was careful to construct my image to the same size as the video.

Also I discovered that using Compressor to create Ipad friendly video files from humungous FCP HD Pro Res files will result in the FlowPlayer not recognizing them and refusing to fall back to Flash. I went with Sorenson Squeeze 6 instead and the Main Concepts codec. Everything worked then. The .mp4 file I created is read just fine by Flash.

It seems that there are several levels of files that you can throw at the ipad but the web you have to make sure to keep the data rate around 1000 kilobytes per second. I am using Sorenson Squeeze MP4 360p (16 x 9) preset and the Main Concepts codec. This produces a 640 x 360 video with a data rate of 1017 kilobits per second.

You can make the same file in Compressor using the Apple TV preset and cutting back on the data rate. It looks a bit better but won’t playback in Flash.

Does this link play properly for you on your ipad?  Do you see the controls?

Hi there
drop us a support request with details of theme and any other plugins you are using on the page . We will look into this for you http://support.symfonip.com

However, on encoding Video i have found 640x360 H.264 version 3.1 works for me using a modded AppleTV setting . Note this is just for HTML 5 playback… not standard iPad playback like when you sync with itunes. Any FCP users out there want to chip in ?

There is a great article out on Ken Stone’s FCP site for creating video for the iPad. I haven’t used it yet to see how it would behave in the SymVideo5 Stack, but if you haven’t looked it over yet, it is very detailed in the settings, and I would also be interested in how it ends up behaving in the stack. I don’t have an iPad, and wouldn’t be able to test out the stack behavior until this weekend using the referenced compressor settings, but if requested, I would be happy to do the work as I am interested in the result myself.

Link to the article: Encoding for the iPad

BTW, this is a great reference site for everything Final Cut Studio for those who may not have known about it before.

Hope this helps!
