Announcing the new Blueball “User’s Choice” FontStylr Stacks!
We asked Rapidweaver users what fonts they would like to see in some new FontStylr stacks and got in some great font suggestions. The end result is ready to go into your Rapidweaver site’s Stacks pages now.

37 fonts. 3 User’s Choice FontStylr Stacks.
Like the original FontStylr stacks bundle, you never have to be stuck using boring web-safe fonts again for your Rapidweaver site’s page headlines. And you can use multiple instances of FontStylr stacks on a Stacks page and even mix and match FontStylr stacks from all 7 FontStylr volumes now available on the same page too if you want.

Check Out The Following Links To Find Out More About This Useful Set of Stacks:
FontStylr “User’s Choice” Stacks Details Page
FontStylr “User’s Choice” Stacks Fonts Display Listing PDF File  (All the font styles shown in order by volume.)
FontStylr “User’s Choice” Stacks Readme Manual

New Link URL Feature Added.
We got in a ton of requests to add in the ability to link a FontStylr headline stack to another site page. It took a little while to work it all through but we are happy to announce that this much requested feature has been added to the Blueball FontStylr “User’s Choice” stack HUD. You can now set a headline to link to any page in your site or else where by simply adding in the page url into the HUD.

FontStylr Stacks Use Cufon To Create The Font Magic That Replaces Your Headline Words With Image Files On The Fly.

The new font styles you select to use for your FontStylr stacks are displayed using Cufón. Cufón is very fast, offers reliable display in all major browsers, and allows your headline text to remain in the source code of your published Rapidweaver site pages for search engines to see. No more waiting on actual font files to load before anything is display like @font-face requires.

Wanted to give a BIG thanks to Ed Brenner too of myrapidweaver.us for creating a great set of snippets for us that will be a big time saver for anyone using these stacks!

Works Perfectly In All The Major Browsers.
All our Blueball FontStylr stacks work and display correctly in Safari 3 and 4, Firefox 3.5, and IE6, IE7, and IE8.

And finally, I’d like to give a big thank you to all the Rapidweaver users who submitted their font suggestions
on the forum posts and to us directly, and to Amy for suggesting the concept for this new stack set. Without your suggestions, these stacks would not have been possible.

I hope everyone finds these new “User’s Choice” FontStylr stacks useful!
Let us know what you think of it. We’re always interested to get feedback in on our Rapidweaver releases.

Best,
Charlie

The new stacks are fantastic Charlie: several of my “choices” made it in there and I can’t wait to use them.  I am glad my little idea took flight and am sure it will be a big success for you.  Thanks too, for adding the ability to link.  Are you going to update the previous Fontstylr stacks with that feature too?  It add a lot of additional functionality to the stack…

Cheers,
Amy

Thanks for the kind comments Amy and Ed. Yes I’m in the middle of updating the original 4 FontStylr stacks and will also be including a new PDF file displaying and listing by volume all the font styles giving Rapidweaver users a fast way to easily see how the fonts look.

This will be a free update to all buyers of the first version of the original Blueball FontStylr stacks bundle and will go out in the near future to everyone.

Best,
Charlie

Nice! May I suggest adding an actual text sample in addition to the character presentation in the display pdf file. This would make it so much easier to evaluate which font to use.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. As the FontStylr stacks are meant to be used only for headlines on a Stacks page, are you wanting to just see a generic bit of text to show what a headline might look like for each font?

Please let me know and I’ll see what we can do on the it for you.

Best,
Charlie

Hi Charlie
I don’t know if this has been brought up yet but in your PDF there are duplicate fonts under different names…

Octin Spraypaint and Scratch Italic appear to be the same.

Just a heads up.

Charlie, these are great, thanks. I don’t know if anyone else is having this ‘problem’, but the pdf doesn’t scroll smoothly towards the end of the document - it seems to take ages to load the data in the browser screen. It happens when I open the pdf in Preview too. I’m working on a top-end iMac, so I don’t think its a computer/system issue.

One other thing - I’d like to get some of the fonts you’ve used in these stacks to add to my custom fonts - where can I get them please?

Thanks

The actual pdf file is approx. 1.6MB in size so it may take a few seconds to download entirely and view it within a browser. And some browsers will require a plugin to view it.

I use OS X’s Preview program to view the file with ( and highly recommend using it instead of a browser) and it scrolls without any issue at all throughout the file. Very fast, and I show the Sidebar in Preview that displays the pages as well so I can hop back and forth quickly between them.

The fonts I got directly from requests made in the original thread requesting font submissions from users and from emails that came in. Any of the fonts in particular you are interested in? Let me know and I’ll see what I can do on the links for them.

Best,
Charlie

Yes, I’m doing the same but can’t get the file to load at a decent speed and I’m on a 50Mb broadband connection!

No worries if you don’t have links to any of the fonts at the moment, I’ll google the ones I’m interested in - thanks

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know we just emailed out a free v2.0 update on our Blueball User’s Choice FontStylr stacks bundle to everyone.

This update to our Blueball User’s Choice FontStylr stacks fixes a problem on the letter-spacing feature in each of the stacks by updating the template.html in each stack. The letter-spacing feature now works correctly as expected.

You will need to replace your current Blueball FontStylr User’s Choice stacks you have installed with the new v2.0 stacks. Then restart Rapidweaver, open your site file up, and you’ll be good to go.

Our apologies for any inconvenience that this issue may have caused you with your Stacks pages.

Best,
Charlie

Have you released a version of these stacks that work like the updated version of the first bundle? Meaning, being able to to turn off the Cufon call after the first stack…

Not yet but the testing is complete on the new update version now, so you can look for an update going out to everyone next Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning at the latest.
