Hi Guys
After much discussion, we’re opening this new Stacks forum for your use! In order to keep the Announcements thread to things relating to RapidWeaver itself (not plugins for plugins) we’re going to be fairly actively moving any Stacks announcements to this new forum. Please be considerate of the forum moderators and post in the appropriate forum!
As there’s a dedicated RSS feed for this Stacks forum, if you’re announcing something please prefix the post title with [ANN] - that way, folks can check out announcements!
We’ve also set the forum up so that it’ll only show threads as ‘hot’ if a thread reaches a higher post limit than all the others - given the number of replies to a Stacks thread, we figured the logic needed tweaking on this forum!
If you’ve any further questions, please post them here!
Kind Regards,
Nik
Good job, Nik! And thanks…
Warm regards,
Jamie

If you are not using Stacks or Cartloom yet, what are you waiting for?
The Announcement forum feels so empty with all you guys over here :-! only joking.
Many thanks Nik in opening the Stacks forum and looking forward to all the great stacks to arrive.

Its me, my mac and your money - thats a good combination!!
There is something up with the Stacks Forum. Normally, I would paste html that I wrote for my blog post into the RW forum. This does not work in the Stacks Forum. It does still work in the announcements forum though…. help!
Cheers,
Joe

Fixed. Though, please bear in mind that we may turn off full-paste HTML in the future as a safety precaution.
Thanks
Nik
Nice to see a forum dedicated to Stacks. During the last month or so I have been creating a Web Site, that ultimately will contain all (or most) Stacks available. A section of the site will contain a synopsis of all of the Stacks used with reference to the relevant page. I am also in the process of documenting a Stacks Desktop Aid Memoir, which I may eventually offer for sale. My goal is to demonstrate the use of Stacks in a fun way associated with Graphics & Musical Artists, rather than just business orientated. I started this as a retirement project and it has just grown, but during the process I have learnt a lot about mixing multiple Stacks on the same page (i.e, I didn’t adhere to the doctrine of only using one Stacks effect per page).
Whilst there is a very healthy competition amongst Stacks designers, that lead to quite similar products what I have found is that there is enough of a difference to make them all useful in different situations. So I decide what I want to do first - then look for the most appropriate Stack - great fun.
My intention on retirement was to migrate to DreamWeaver (of which my son is an expert), but Stacks has taken RapidWeaver onto an entirely new plane vs-a-vs Web Development and I compete with my son to make the most interesting pages.
I would be most interested to see how other users are employing the use of particular Stacks and would be happy to share experiences.
Naturally, I want to upgrade to Version 5 of RapidWeaver, but my concern (until it is tried and tested by the Rapiweaver community) is - Will an Upgrade “Shaft” my investment in so many Stacks? The new Realmac site is “ominously” lacking in any guidance on the effects(s) of an upgrade on already developed sites. Would I be wise, for example in keeping 2 Versions of RapidWeaver (4.x & 5.0) in use and instead of just purchasing an Upgrade, buy a full copy of the new version>

Ken.
Hi and welcome to the forum,
Check out the announcements forum as well for any (add-on) stacks. I doubt very much that if you want to upgrade to RW5 that it will to use your words “shaft” your investment in stacks. I have upgraded myself today to RW5 but have had to do this purely because I do a lot of testing for developers and keep previous versions of RW in my applications folder - I just call them RW367, RW421, RW43, RW442 etc and of course RW5. As I have made various test sites in previous versions I just right click the project file and open this up with the RW version. So to answer your question yes it is perfectly fine for you have more than one version of RW.
You can also check out this site for all of the add on stacks that are available - http://www.rapidweavercentral.net/stacks/all_rapidweaver_stacks_on_one_page.php

Even if you keep both versions going, as an existing owner of RW4 you should only need to purchase the upgrade.
Has this policy changed? I see loads of stacks announcements in the announcement forum. I guess it would be best if we were allowed to post there. Stacks seem to be a big part of the reasons people are buying rapidweaver.

As far as I am aware the policy has not changed. The Announcement part of the forum is exactly what it says - if you have an announcement for a new stack, new theme, plug-in etc, you should not post a question/query there as some people have done. If you have a question/query there is a part of the forum called Questions where you should raise them. This part of the forum is actually meant for people to have a general chat about stacks etc although some people also raise questions about stacks.
