Rapid weaver 3, Mirage.
Mac OS X 10.5.8
imac Intel
recently migrated to new servers (within Vario)
Started using RW a few weeks ago and uploads worked ok on the old server.
Two large large sites with video and pics on the server.
Numerous problems migrating to the new server as I don’t understand SSH, but Verio have been very helpful, 8 calls in the last few days had all my files on the new server and email problems resolved.
But now whenever I try to upload my site with changes, with what Verio have said is the correct path, something odd happens.
Duplicates directories are created and loaded into my directories.
the path as entered is home/myusernamefolder/www/mywebsite.com (see attached jpeg)
What happens is that a duplicate directory (home/myusernamefolder/www/mywebsite.com) that has the changed or new website files is created and dropped within myusernamefolder. The live website folder remains untouched and live.
I have successfully uploaded files directly to the website folder using Transmit, as has Verio techs with no problem..
It has been infuriating to try and unravel what has been going on….

Can you post a screen shot of your publish settings? (you may want to replace private info for similar parts of text.
If you can’t convince them, confuse them.

Updated the original post to be more concise and included screen grab.
I am about to reinstall RW.

Firstly,
You should upgrade your version of RW to RW4.3.1 - if you have 3.6.7 this is a free upgrade and also check to see if you have any themes/plug-ins that also need updating and do this as soon as possible. Looking at your image of your set up details this is incorrect and (see the image below) you should rectify the following:
1. Server - This should be something like your ftp.yourdomain.com
2. User name - This will be your actual domain name - yourdomain.com etc
3. Password - Obviously enter in your password
4. Site Path - this could well be a / slash; index; htdocs or whatever your hosting server has advised you
All of the above details should have been provided to you by our hosting sever and I would go and check with them about this
Regards
Norman
Its me, my mac and your money - thats a good combination!!
Question to check if I understand correctly:
When you upload in RW this is what you see afterwards on the server?
home/myusernamefolder/www/mywebsite.com
home/myusernamefolder/home/myusernamefolder/www/mywebsite.com
If so, try these options:
Delete home/myusernamefolder/ from the folder field in publish settings, just fill in www/mywebsite.com
or:
Add a / in front of the folder path: /home/myusernamefolder/www/mywebsite.com
If I didn’t understand correctly, can you show the path which is generated and shouldn’t be there?
If you can’t convince them, confuse them.

Thank you Norman.
Does the above still apply if i have a virtual private server (running apache). Verio set this up so that within my username folder is the www folder where I have two website folders ( I could have more if I wanted)
I’ve walked through this step with them numerous times but think it worth triple checking every step for basic mistakes:)
thanks

Mick,
My knowledge of VPS is limited but my guess is that you could have more than one folder to place all of your stuff in and this is typically what most hosting companies offer but this is usually done within the site path and you should be able to set up as many as you want. If you could let me know who the company is and I could look into this myself and let you know what I find as well.
