Hi,

I am going to start this as a new thread even though it relates to previous questions and problems I have been asking along this concept.

Basically, I am trying to use non standard web fonts with the Supersized theme. I have been trying to use webfonts.fonts.com which hosts the fonts on their site. It gives you a piece of script which you put in the theme html and then everyone can see those fonts without needing them installed on their machine.

I have managed to get this to work with the Havnit theme (with thanks to Vasily) however, this process seems to be conflicting with the Javascript inherent in Supersized but only in IE7 & IE8. Other browsers seem to work fine - however I need to get this working in IE. I just wondered if anyone has any alternative suggestions?

I have read on this forum about Fontsquirrel but it seems to me that this may use a similar system to webfonts but with the fonts hosted on my server rather than on a third party one, so I wonder if I might get the same issues?

I also see there is a stack:  http://stacks.blueballdesign.com/fontstylr/fontstylr.html which seems to use cufon but I cannot quite understand if this will employ a similar principle.

If all this fails I am going to have to embed all my text as pictures (as my client is insisting on his corporate fonts â?? Gill Sans & Garamond) but I think will cause an outcry!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Jennifer

I do feel for you. This is crazy behaviour; the webfonts/cufon/whatever thing is in its infancy; a year ago, there wouldn’t have been any argument, he simply couldn’t have had them. Clients, eh? Personally, I’d tell him that he can either have a beautiful website that works for everyone and looks like a million dollars, or a website to his specifications that won’t be found by any search engine on earth. That is, unless someone here comes up with an answer! Good luck.

best wishes

I think it might be due to JavaScript conflicts, we have a non-JavaScript way but it is for paying member when commercial launch. You can go to http://webfonts.fonts.com/en-US/ContactUs , copy this message, with your email address used, I can enable you to use non-JavaScript and see if that will solve the problem.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

That sounds good but can I wait on the offer? I’m just about to rush out and I won’t be back on line for 13 hours or so. Can I contact you when I am back at my desk?

Kind regards

Jennifer

Hi Steve,

Sorry for not responding. I have had a similar offer of help from a very nice lady in the customer services at webfonts.fonts. She has given me non Javascript access. I still haven’t managed to get it to work yet but I will keep you up to date.

Many thanks

Jennifer
