Announcing RapidWeaver Elements 2.0

As a user:

  • Love it.
  • Already thinking of a different site design than I had contemplated. (will echo question about SEO and tabs, though).
  • I’m going to Told You So that WYSIWYG Markdown was possible.
  • Can I drag Markdown into Elements? Can I right-click and select Use Markdown File to point to existing Markdown file?
  • Needs lists-in-lists support, not just list support.
  • I’m going to have to think long and hard about image folders in Resources. Are there limits to images within a folder, folders within folders, or folders overall?

As a developer:

  • Yikes. BCWYAF (be careful what you ask for)
  • This is going to really open up Components. To the point where users have the same problem as with Rapidweaver (serious Components scroll as opposed to serious Stacks scroll).
  • Right now you’re showing DEV on Components authored in the DEV system. Is there a way to put a vendor ID there instead? I haven’t looked hard at the documentation yet, but is there a way to create groups-by-developer? And again, there’s nesting issue as with image folders above: can there be a third-party Components area in which there are folders for each developer?

I’m sure I have more comments, but like you, I have work to do today.

Can you post an example of how the new Tabs component behaves in the mobile view?

Behaves the same, was there anything in particular you wanted it to do?

Brilliant - amazing update :star_struck: :star_struck: :star_struck: - markdown, tabs and lists :raising_hands: already know where I can use ALL of these!!

Did you add in the ability to have captions on both thumbnails and full sized photos? This is a basic feature and I cannot start using Elements until you do this.

We will have a Pro Gallery Component available in the store very soon, it’s aimed at professional photographers and it’ll do exactly what you need.

If you’ve not got Elements yet, I’d encourage you to pick up a copy now while the sale is on and start learning how to use it

I think this is a good problem to have

Right now these are just to show highlight they are “dev components”. Don’t worry, in the future we’ll be adding better filtering and organisation to the components list

Looking forward to hearing them

I’m looking forward to using the lists in my nested Accordions!

Awesome, the lists component will work perfectly there :star_struck:

Did you get the nested accordions fixed?

Yup, we did indeed, shipping soon

Nice.

In response to the “component scroll” possible problem, could you add the ability to collapse components so if I don’t use Forms components I can ‘hide’ them

I guess I will just have to wait to find out but hopefully a link on a different page can go to Tab 1, another link can go to Tab 2, another to Tab 3 etc. Wasn’t sure from the video because it shows setting up the ‘home’ tab for when you land on the page.

It is in 1.6.2.

Has Tailwind been upgraded from v3 to V4 in Elements 2.0?

Some great Stacks versions of tabs have a drop-down menu for the tabs on mobile view which is really helpful and user friendly.

I second that vertical tabs would be really desirable - I need this to transfer my current RW site over Elements, along with a carousel and slider that can feature any content (text/image/button/etc.) rather than just images.

Not yet, was there any specific you wanted from Tailwind V4 in Elements?

We’ll have solutions for both of these things soon

oooh do let slip a little more detail

What solutions??
