@paulcruice oops did not see your comment you removed out of container, deleted my video, I see from your other post you sorted out how set a background image
I would just build the page in sections as you would like to see the page in the browser try not over complicate design
drop in containers for the different areas of the page, then add content check how the page performs before the next section, especially at different screen sizes
Dan C. these are the problems I am still having with the Standard nav bar. I have mentioned these before but it seems they have been missed amongst everything happening at Elements.
-
The Gap setting under Content Layout for Standard does nothing to the distribution of menus in the nav bar.

I have reworked my web page again from scratch without adding the Standard navigator bar and, as expected, the Bottom Scroll Bar does not appear. For all this reworking, I have been working on the MD screen size and I have used a Mobile menu for this. When I now add the Standard navigator bar and having now done some more digging, I find that the problem appearance of the Bottom Scroll Bar occurs when I select the LG Screen Size and only the LG screen size.

In the attached screenshot, you will notice that the Menu second from the left is Grey all the time in Safari. This Grey colour is the Active State colour I set. All other Menus work as expected in Safari.

Can I suggest, why not call the nav bar StdNav. The word Standard means nothing on its own. One is prompted to say Standard What!
Not very intuitive. I will continue to hammer the idea of intuitiveness since that is what will make this a beautiful easy to use intuitive program.
Cheers.
This is on the list to be fixed for the next release
This issue is the way you have your page setup. See above.
That’s becuase it’s the page you are on, it’s the “active” page.
It’s in the Navigation Category, so I think it’s clear what it does. We’ll think about it, but I’m not keen on using abbreviations.
Dan, I think he means the name as it appears in the Page Layout outline, not the category list. In the outline context, “Standard” means nothing. It should say Navigation (Standard) or something similar.
Yup, there is that… but in practice I’ve not heard of this being an issue, and I’ve certainly never felt that it’s an issue.
If everyone votes for it to be called “Standard Navigation” then we can change it, but I really think this is a non issue and we have bigger fish to fry
I’ve commented on this on another thread now, as this particular request is actually a subset of a number of requests I’ve seen. But I’ll repeat myself here: Elements is now dense enough that no name, cryptic name, duplicative names, unclear names is a cognitive dissonance to anyone that is not using the product 24/7/365.
I’d really like to get my 90+ year old mom using Elements for her Web site (she’s an artist), but she wouldn’t be in the site design all the time and would definitely stare at words like “Standard” trying to figure out what that is.
Given that the name ‘Standard’ is on a component in the Navigation group in the Components sidebar (thereby identifying it as a Navigation Component )and given that once you drag this Navigation Component into the Editor window it looks like a navigation bar, for what it’s worth, my vote would be to leave as is.
When I go to the Components to select one, I do NOT ever go looking for the category first then for the Component. I simply go to the Component I want, Standard for example. In fact for me you could do away with the Categories all together just like it is in Classic when I select Joe Walkman Stacks. There are no categories here, just a list of all the stacks, but the well named stacks tell you what they do.
I agree whole heartedly with Thom Hogan and probably more so since I am in my mid 70’s and starting to forget things. As a general rule Dan, I agree that one should not use contractions. Therefore to continue the idea of Intuitiveness, can I suggest it be called Navigation1. No confusion then. No wondering what Standard means. The word Standard on its own means nothing unless you have learnt somewhere it means Standard Navigator in Elements.
Not once have I ever looked at the Categories. May be they can stay while the program is in development and then be done away with.
Cheers.
