Got a rather large video banner 6mb - turned it off on mobile and small screens

Should I do this with all my sites?

What do you guys do?

Video on mobile is always tricky. How are you "turning it off”?

What are you worried about with having the video on mobile?

Michael - I’m no expert but that sounds pretty huge

You could try to reduce the size using a free online tool like …

> **[Video Compressor - No Loss in Video Quality - VEED.IO](https://www.veed.io/tools/video-compressor)**
>
> Compress video online by up to 90% with no visible quality loss. See real-time file size estimates as you adjust settings. All formats. Free up to 1GB.

or

> **[Video Compressor | Reduce Video File Size Online](https://www.freeconvert.com/video-compressor)**
>
> A fast online video compressor to reduce video file size. You can compress video to a desired file size or a quality level. Supports MP4, FLV, MKV and more.

And this is something I worry about Ben - hiding stuff for mobile … doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not still loaded on mobile, does it ? Perhaps a little clarification on that would be really helpful - thanks !

I though ‘hide’ meant it didn’t load…

Trying to save bandwidth on mobile devices - faster loading times

Cut them in half again 6mb to 3mb

Generally speaking 3mb and under is supposed to be ok…

Could edit them further again…

Should there be a do not publish option? Button - slider…

for me - I use handbrak- after Final Cut and 1600 x 400 size

These were a little long (many seconds) and I can still trim down the loop…
