would you not want to generate on live
ok only one set of part images, legs and arms are mirrored saves getting another image
again you have a lot of combinations so even this might not be enough
if it works with the CMS then no probs
I know you love to play and learn but this is not the whole picture as theres lots of other fields as well. e.g. Short name, long name, year introduced, accessory/ies, variants because of printing errors, I have about twenty fields of info and pics per one - max. I am getting on with the first one as I have just finished typing up database as it was “poor” lots of spelling mistakes, different layouts etc. Thats all done now.
no probs just rather you than me

this works the same, but no probs - deleted component
OK now stuck
{% if addon.image %}
<img src=“{{addon.image}}" alt="{{addon.name}}" loading="lazy" class="w-full aspect-[4/3] object-cover rounded-md mb-2 border border-black">
{% endif %}
So I have a folder called "addons" it has 4 (for now) pictures in wth the full catalogue number e.g. "abc123456ab" in but the image just displays your "pick1" even though I have deleted it.
Ref: I have a folder called "add-ons" I have pics named as a catalogue number, I do not have anything in md folder for this "add-on" and I am just using your basic md file - just changing 1 bit at a time - no changes other than correct catalogue and id numbers.
I have tried changing the "addon.name" to item-addon.name, add-on to "addons" etc but it does not change your origonal image at all.
So where am I going wrong? TIA
not quite sure if you change the md file change the image, assume this is what you changed except you have 4 images. this is just a path to your resources images
if you meant your image folder is now called add-ons you need to change the path /resources/add-ons/??
do you now have 2 folders, add ons and add-ons with images
Try - close Elements down and start again , sometimes it needs it to be cleared
OK cracked image bit and added to md file and got all working. However, the images are on top of each other and I would like side by side otherwise the page could get very long!
TIA
you need to change the layout in the custom component, it is tailwind almost all flex, laws of physics and space
see my changed layout

Steve
OK my head is done in, made a lot of progress today, data very clean, nice “slices” added all my headings and pics - Smaple only) to check. Got everything the way I want but will start a fresh tomorrow with getting things “moved” in directions. THANKS for all your help have a great evening!
so for the custom component I got the cms loops format from here
and the rest from the twig pages, again might not need everything I got from here, but no idea so left some of it in, seems to still work, and links in this site
Just my updated thoughts - 20k of items?? Again ignore if I am talking out of turn
You should probably use a database for this, that is an extremely large number of items, even then that’s a lot of options, unless I am not quite understanding what your final numbers are
A lot to load and maintain, minor errors in the md file etc just to name a few
Steve the company have a database but asked for a new website to sell them on so I thought I would see what I could play with to offer. Perhaps this isn’t the best way and here why I asked at start as to what would be the best way. Like you I like a challenge but sometimes come up short with skills but I have learned a great deal this week so at my age its just keeps the brain ticking over. Have a good day! TIA
Not sure exactly how your distribution of parts is spread but combinations would be a horrendous number that’s why a database and live build would have been a solution but I have no idea how to work with millions of combinations, are there finite parts or are they continuous manufacture - just curious
Unless all parts are just sold as seperate and the buyer just picks what they want to purchase and the company assembles
Steve the manufacturer supplies parts in “finished” robots. Every robot has a catalogue number (SKU) e.g. 123. but for e.g. Part number 007 has three variants eg. 007a/007b/007c so manufacturer sends 4 finished robots, each robot is the same "body but has different coloured hair/arms/ accessories etc. which makes it different to the other one. My customer is a wholesaler who now wants to ship to customers. You order part 007c and you get that, however without a picture and a price how would I know its “c” and not “b” variant I want?
At different times of year he promotes different "collections’ so Halloween, Xmas, Easter, New Year etc. so unless he has a visual reference to each robot he can not promote by picture that specific one.
So yes he has a database thats connected to PayPal and Stripe etc. and he has all parts listed and finished robots, but he is having difficulties with images with their clear variants showing.
I hace now got everything I want - outline - with your help -THANKS - I am now just starting to put the pictures in and will be doing for a while as I have the m.d outline created but now need to fill in the robots details and pictures in the md file which I am quite proficient at as I set up a whole ERP system and WMS for a multi million pound Medical Company - twice - he sold up and started again
so that parts easy to me.
It was getting the structure of md and view that took little while.
So the head ache now is cleaning db and aligning correct md devalues to import - little by little just in case.
glad your sorted, if you need any help let me know, but good to know you are on track ,was getting bit wow thats a lot of work moment
Once it s all up and running and online would be good to see
Steve When I did the ERP Project initially the company had 3 green screens with a linux based small database, it had been running for 24 years. This had to be put into a windows based system which changed hands to Microsoft during installation and went on to be Dynamics Navision. I had 3K finished products, 4.5K raw materials, BOMS and a warehouse to code up with Sisle/Rack/Shelf etc and set up EAN 128 Barcods for all products and also a WMS Barcode system. There was me and 1 other. We learned a great deal and got it up and running in under 6 months. We had to put Linux data into Alpha Connect and then CSV’s before inputting. This was on top of sales/purchasing/works orders and everyday functions still running too. Those were the days.
However I am a nurse who specialised in Theatres/Critical Care and have designed, commissioned and moved into New Build Hospitals so after that this was a doddle.
Now at 70 I just play with my web designs and helping people with their business "problems’ helping turning them into solutions. It keeps my brain active!
Agree keep the brain active and learn something new every day if possible
Ok going off topic a bit but it keeps my brain active and learning almost everyday
Elements is a great escape, you can try something different every day by pushing the components
I convinced a friend of mine to purchase Elements, that has taken a lot of time for me, also trying to convince two others to try the trial version, save me time in the end sorting out their websites
The main issue with that is they have a period to learn Elements, the main issues re grid, container, flex and background including the menu. So that keeps me busy as well
I just did a video starting to explain flex and how close to the code Elements gets, it is only a small part, not all of flex, not even touched container as flex, or how you switch direction and the rest. So I have them reading about flex and how it works, grid etc next. Will end up creating a lot of videos I expect, thats why I run out of space both cleanshot and Elements
I think that Elements and Tailwind are a great combo, gives so much control from the beginning, it is also a weakness because of the learning curve. Driving them to understand grid, flex, container, background and menu first
This is the first part of the videos I am creating for them, although they do not understand Tailwind at all. Single takes on these making it up as I go.
This has n interactive guide to flexbox if anyone interested
https://www.joshwcomeau.com/css/interactive-guide-to-flexbox/
Steve I see your flexing again! ![]()
I suggest you start a new thread for this and perhaps also add it to Dans list of things to add.
No finished now
