# Card deck - order logic

Hi,

I am using Card Deck to highlight news articles, with links, on a training website. The cards do not appear as I would like, i.e. most recent in top row. They appear to use some aesthetic/balancing logic. Is there any way that I can guarantee that if I add, say, three new cards, that they will be on the top row or is it luck of the Gods?

@APCAnswers I believe the order is based on vertical order: top card will show top left, second shows top center, and so on. So this is manual ordering. I don’t know how the Card Deck would otherwise know what’s “newest”: this is not like a blog stack that does some auto-ordering.

You’re likely using the Masonry layout within the Card Deck. If so, that layout mode arranges things in a “brick-like” layout, fitting items together based on size. This layout mode does not have a way to guarantee placement of individual items.

Yes, it was masonry layout which, as you say, optimises for ‘look’ rather than the order of the deck content. Thanks.
