# CMS Error help please

I am just starting a new project and have literally just started, I am getting an error that I do not know what is causing this. I have one page only, 1 md file only. I can not publish file here as it’s commercially sensitive.  
I have the “collection” I am building rendering but I am getting a YAML error. Here is image of error and a copy of my simple code only. I do not want to start adding other bits to md file until I get rid of this error. TIA for your help @dan @ben.

Sometimes I have to give my head a wobble! I closed the project down went for a little break made myself a coffee, came back opened file and error has gone, I also tried your code and that worked too. THANKS for taking the time to help an old man!

@Pegasus sorry to bother I have a code line date: “yyyy” but it showing as “dd/mm/yyyy” its in md file but I can not see anywhere just to make this “yyyy”. Any help? TIA

You need to handle that through the Twig syntax.

For example, if your YAML frontmatter contains:

date: “2026-08-15” then using: {{ item.date }}

will naturally output the full date exactly as it is stored.

If you only want to display the year, you need to adjust your Twig syntax accordingly.

If you only want to display the year, you can use:  
{{ item.date|date(“Y”) }}

This will output: 2026

THANKS I just have date: in my md file and I just had {{date}} in field. This was giving a dd/ymm/yyy output.  
I have no dates any where in md file set up at all just name. I tried your code and I now get dd/mm/yyyy 00:00, TIA
