I am sorry that you have not been well, and hope you are feeling better. This is the last page in my transfer to Elements for this site. I still have plenty to test, so I can keep busy. Thank you for your time and understanding.

I’ve been doing some more testing and fixing today, and I’m hopeful that we have a fix for shared hosting service (like IONOS).

This fix should be released later this week or early next week.

The issue is due to some Apache and PHP settings on certain shared hosting services, which made it difficult to track down. Once this update has been released you should see your forms start to work as expected (so long as your SMTP mail settings are correct).

@Fuellemann I tested this update on directly on your server, and the form is submitting data as expected (we no longer receive a 404 when submitting the form), however, I was getting an error from your SMTP server. So I think your form settings are incorrect — either the username/password, server port, or the server name. You might want to check those settings with your provider to ensure they are correct!

I can relate to the work you and Dan put in the make it work on IONOS. I created an upload form the sends an email notification of the upload. It took me and ChatGPT above 4 hours to get it working on IONOS and MAMP Pro, and that is not even 1/10 of complexity of the Contact form.

Hi Ben,

I also gave 1.3 and 1.3.1. a try ☹ some things now work, not all … The road I took :

I tried Publishing, Publish All, nuked all content, Published All again, etc.

The error I am getting at that point : “Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 400 ()”. [https://www.vps13.org/rw/elements/com.realmac.corepack/api/email](https://www.vps13.org/rw/elements/com.realmac.corepack/api/email)"

So reading through some of the messages in this forum I revisited the form settings, played around with Encryption None/TLS/SSL, change the port, …

Nuked again, Publish All, … now the form Says “Your mail has been send” YEAH !
The browser console says : [Log] {response: Response} (contact, line 667), 200, OK, …
The log in …/VPS13/rw/elements/com.realmac.corepack/api/logs/form\_rw79375A3D\_66C7\_4DB0\_9054\_E6DB9103468D-2025-09-20.log reads :

```
Now **sent: true** that is a mighty hopeful thing, right?
**to** looks good, **recipients** look good too, … **Email sent successfully** …
However … no email shows up in the email inbox ☹
Anybody with more (IONOS) experience then I have know where to look for email/SMTP/IMAP logs, etc.
🤞🏻 🙏🏻
Hey @Bart-Jan,
At least we’re making progress, hang in there, I’m sure we’ll all get to the bottom of it!
So, It now sounds like it’s a server side issue… Have you contacted IONOS again?
Might also be worth giving ChatGPT your findings and see what he says, it might just point you in the right direction…
Let me know how you get on!
If you are using a subdomain for testing, ensure you have a SSL Starter Wildcard. I could not get mail form the contact form with just SSL Starter. There were so many things we were trying at the time I can not be 100% sure that helped with the cure. However now the Elements contact form works for me as does the mail on a upload form the ChatGPT helped me create [test-n1et.com](http://test-n1et.com).
I forgot, prior to me getting IONOS elements form to work, I had it working on MAMP Pro server on my Mac. However all the emails were going to spam. I had to add my email to the allowed whitelist on my IONOS account.
Thanks for the tip @bobsimoneau !
Thanks for all others who had helpful tips AND in particular thanks for all the work done on the Elements developer(s) side 🙂 😊
If you are using IONOS as your hosting solution : Elements 1.3.x Forms come highly recommended !
Latest in line here, but…
I have to configure a contact form and it worked very early in classic (I don’t even think I had to set smtp there) and I can’t make it work in elements.
I’m using a google workspace account to send email, so I’m using the actual mail as user and the Password app (specifically generated for rapidweaver) in the password field. The smtp is [smtp.gmail.com](http://smtp.gmail.com) and I have tried any authentication method: none, TLS with port 587 or 465, SSL with port 465 or 587.
The “from mail” in settings is the same mail I also used in the username field.
the “to mail” is the mail where I want to receive emails.
The php on the server where my site is hosted is set to version8.4 and Api confirms that it’s ok.
Still the form keeps returning a failure message when I click “Submit”.
What am I doing wrong?
After several frustrating days of troubleshooting, I’m still having trouble getting the contact form to work using the North Eleven project as a starting point for my site.
I used the Elements Form documentation ( [Form | RapidWeaver Elements Docs](https://docs.realmacsoftware.com/elements-docs/elements/components/form#php-server-check) ) to set up my Siteground email settings.
I have gone through the checklist process, including updating the server to PHP 8.4, and appending the Contact page with index.php; however, when running the server check, the page simply shows a green horizontal bar with no text.
 ![Screenshot 2026-05-13 at 11.53.19 AM](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/flex005/uploads/realmacsoftware1/original/3X/9/f/9f08440693a7d9f1000da510836d91adb8da52ac.png)
When sending a test submission, I get the form’s set text error message.
The Siteground’s rw/elements/com.realmac.corepack does not show a log or email folder.
Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated.
