I’m about to start creating a website using Rapidweaver, haven’t got as far as selecting a theme yet, and unsure how to go forward until I know the answer to a question. I’m a pretty much a beginner in the world of website building, so my question may be a little basic…
I have in mind a website which has gold colour in the header and maybe elsewhere too. I’m expecting not many themes will give this as a colour option, and so I’m not sure whether I need to give up this dream or whether there is a way for someone who doesn’t have any coding knowledge to customise RW to include extra colours.
If anyone has time/energy to answer this newbie question, it would be much appreciated!
“Gold” is not a colour. If you look at a real life object that is “gold coloured”, you’ll notice that they’re not a solid colour, but rather a combination of metallic yellow/orange, with the colour changing depending on how the light hits it. The surface of the object will also reflect the surroundings, adding to the “colour” that you and I perceive when we look at the object. Added to that are specular highlights, which basically means very small areas that drop shadows on other small areas, with the highest areas being hit with the most light:
You can’t simulate this with applying just a colour to an object on a website. You’ll need to use a art package (like Adobe Illustrator, or Affinity Designer) do draw the object and apply a gold texture to it - both packages offer functionality to do this. You then save the result as an image and incorporate it into your website.
