# Gallery Pro masonry observation

I have noticed that when creating a GP masonry gallery of horizontal and vertical images of varying proportions, the tall vertical images seem to get priority in thumbnail size.
Sometimes leaving the horizontal thumbs quite small.
Would it be possible to have the relative size of the thumbnails be more consistent?
Not everyone uses images that are all the same proportion as seen in the demo videos.

This is the most extreme example. All of the full size images are 640px on the longest dimension.

You don’t think those tiny horizontal thumbs, in the upper left, are disproportionately small and hard to see ?

Looks like different layouts, The Masonry is constrained by the width of the column, looks great. Your link looks more like a grid layout loads of white spaces because the images are different sizes
Use grid???

The link is the old Classic album page. I am showing that the thumbs are less disproportionate there . But it’s not a great look overall.
BTW, the Gallery pro grid setting doesn’t improve the disparity between thumb sizes in the extreme example that I am asking about. Of course on other GP pages with less diverse shapes, it is not an issue. And using constrained thumbnails is not a solution because the thumbs need to be full frame. ( not even sure you can constrain the thumbnails )

Sorry to say, but the screenshot you’ve shared shows the images displaying as expected.
The disparity in thumbnail sizes comes from the big differences in aspect ratio between your images. In a masonry layout each image is scaled to fit the column width, so a wide landscape image will always render much shorter than a tall portrait one.
Hope that helps explain what you’re seeing 🙂

So I guess I could just place the narrow images on a wider background.
