Hey everyone,

As of now the new Ai features in Elements can’t write your image alt tags becuase of where the information is stored in the project file, but I found a work around. I’m not sure how safe this is becuase I’m modifying the data.json file in the project, which is where the image alt tags live. @ben or @dan, I would love to get your opinion on this and if there are any risk factors.

If Elements is closed out completly I can ask claude to go into the project, analyze all the images, and write alt tags for anything that doesn’t already have one. I’ve tested this on one of my projects and it worked great, but I don’t know if I’m in the danger zone or not…lol

Modifying file level data within the project file outside of the app isn’t ideal. The app should really be the source of truth for that kind of thing..

Kinda had a feeling you were going to say that. 🫣

Do you know if there any plans add this ability in the future?

You can do it, but you _should_ always have a backup of your project 😉 and yes, it is something we should add ASAP!

@colinmac can you create a ticket for @tpbradley to get this feature implemented?

On it @dan! I’ve flagged this for @tpbradley so we can get proper AI alt tag writing into Elements (proper in-app path, not editing project files). Thanks for raising it @ajenks.
