# Hey RW Theme Writers (all of you)

As I learn more about RW and the various themese that are available, I notice that some themes do not allow a change to the Banner in the General Settings page. In some cases it seems that it can be set when creating a new site, but not accessible to change or update afterwards. You get a notation “The theme you have selected does not support banner pages”. Why not just enable it?

The Banner feature did not always exist in RapidWeaver. It is a “newer” addition to the theme API. Themes created before this API addition had to make use of their own banner tools in order to let users add in custom banners. Going back and switching the banner settings from custom solutions to the theme API would be nice, but would likely break things for users who’ve already built sites using the theme with the custom banner solutions.
