# Hide a page from being indexed by Google

Is there a stack or a line of code I can add to a page that will stop Google etc from finding it?

There are no guaranteed means other than putting a password on the page. You can uncheck the index and follow boxes on the page inspector. That generates the meta tag that _requests_ search engines not to index the page and not to follow links on the page.

There’s also a robots.txt file that you have set up manually to _request_ the same thing.

Google, Bing, and the other search engines warn you that these are _just requests_ the try to honor them but sometimes these pages still get indexed.
