I have a Mac Pro with 4 storage bays and I repartitioned one of the drives and have been re-organizing each drive. I went to update my website and the file was missing. While deleting duplicate files, I periodically empty the trash bin (unsecured) so I know the files are completely gone. I have a bunch of websites and the only real and important files missing are the actual project rwsw files for each website. The file on my backup was cleaned out also. My time machine backup deleted the old backup and started reindexing the file that were moved. My guess is that all the project files were in a hidden folder and that hidden folder was deleted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for the best software to recover the files off a hard drive that was partitioned from two to 1 partition.

There is a utility “TestDisk”, maybe that can help you. It’s a command line utility for data recovery.

Here’s the link: [http://www.cgsecurity.org/](http://www.cgsecurity.org/)

But I recommend to look for some help by a specialist who knows how to deal with the utility. Maybe you find someone here or in a Mac community

Thanks for your response! After looking at the link, it appears that program is geared more to PCs than Macs. My computer is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

It’s not only for PC, you will find a version for Mac OSX in the download section. But it is a command line utility without a GUI

‘ **DataRescue 4** ’ is probably the best recovery software on the Mac. They have the [free version](https://www.prosofteng.com/freedatarescue/) that you can use for a 1 time job.

I use **Disk Drill** data recovery software [http://www.cleverfiles.com/recover-deleted-files-mac.html](http://www.cleverfiles.com/recover-deleted-files-mac.html) Very easy-to-use!

Duplicate Files Deleter is the good software for me. It will do a thorough search of your hard disk and find out the two or more duplicate files of the same file which may be stored at different locations. It will give you a comprehensive list of all those files and you can decide for yourself what you want to do with them. It’s easy to use. Hope it will help you.
