You change language dependent chars into \_

I think a better solution is to change them to their base.

- ä → a
- ü → u
- ö → o
- ß → s
- é → e
- â → a
- ç → c
- / → -
- ? → -

this is the way of HomeAssistant, i think it is better to read, maybe with an general App-Setting?

What do the french, german, spanish, turkish …. people think?

Hi! Otto from Finland.

I use all the time our scandinavian letters and Elements does not care about it and produces the correct HTML-code. Also I would like to remind you all about that in URL\_addresses one can now (actually already a few years ago) use language depended letters. We had in Finland a doctors site with an URL: [lääkäriasema.fi](http://xn--lkriasema-v2aab.fi) (also [laakariasema.fi](http://laakariasema.fi)).

I agree that changing dependent chars into \_ is not the best solution to keep the text readable.

(French user here).

Hi @ben

this has changed in Elements Version 1.5.4

but it added the `-`

- ä → a-
- ü → u-

and so on. Please remove the `-`

- ä → a
- ü → u
and so on is perfect
