Hi @8jerrys. Iām not aware of that stack or how it works! Do you use it only for displaying a random image on the page? Does the stack simply select a random image from the folder?
@ben Most of the stacks that I owned that supported warehousing just selected whatever was in the folder, so the image didnāt actually have to be in the project.
I think your different image components: gallery, gallery pro, image slider that allow you to drag a resource folder are doing much more than just pulling an image. It looks like it produces multiple version (a total of 5 for gallery pro) and also indexes them so the display in the order that they are in the resource folder.
yes, we resize the images for things like thumbnails and smaller screens. This helps with page speed.
It would be trickier to do this with āwarehousedā images.
yes, that way you can organise your images directly in Elements and have them displayed in that order

Itās Random Content, not Random Images. The containers allow you to put whatever component you want in them.
As @ercross mentioned, you can place whatever you want in the random content areas. So yes, you could do a collection of Radom songs (audio players), lots of fun use cases for it

Hi Ben, Yes, I only use it to select a random image on the page and it selects the image from the server side folder. This makes it much simpler to do as I can add or subtract an image in the folder rather than bloating the page with content.

How or does the Random content works with the Gallery Pro component?
It doesnāt really, those two are totally separate components.
@dan @ben If Realmac Software wants to capture commercial customers, warehousing of assets is a must. For example, a large commercial website might have pages for many different categories of products with each page showing a gallery of product images. Altogether, the site might include hundreds or thousands of product images. New products arrive frequently and must be added to the appropriate product pages. If Elements requires adding the individual product images in its Resources on my local machine and then republishing the entire site, then Elements isnāt going to be a viable solution. For creating and maintaining large sites like this, suitable website software should access server folders so that new product image files are found when added in the appropriate folders on the server. No republishing of the website should be required. The web site should immediately include the new product images when a product page is selected.
From a UI point of view, Elements would just need to accept a URL to a server folder using āAdd Remote Resources.ā Presumably, code on the back end would provide access to folder contents and this code could be available to any Component, whether from Realmac or from third parties. Additionally, an associated sorting option should be available to keep the images sorted in various ways, including by ascending or descending date.
