# \[NEW COMPONENT\] ShortCodes: Do the Impossible – Use Components Right Inside Elements CMS

Dear Elements Weavers,

I’m excited to introduce ShortCodes – a new component that places any other Elements component right inside your CMS text.

In Elements CMS, a blog post is one single Markdown text. Adding a picture or a link to a media file is as far as you can go. ShortCodes changes that: galleries, tables, audio players, contact forms, author cards and almost any other Elements component can now go anywhere in your text.

And it’s easy to do: on a regular Elements page, design whatever you want to see in your post. Put a single component or a whole group of them into a container, then give the container an ID. Now type one short line in your CMS text, exactly where it should appear. On your page, it shows up right between your paragraphs – fully working, whether it’s a gallery with a lightbox, an audio player, an interactive table or a contact form that really sends.

Everything is kept in one place. Change it there, and it updates automatically in every post that uses it. Use as many shortcodes in a post as you like, and keep as many components on your library pages as you need – a post only loads what it really shows.

ShortCodes grew out of my own move from WordPress to Elements CMS on [500places.com](http://500places.com). Writing the articles was never the problem. Getting a gallery between two paragraphs, an advert in the middle of the text or an author card at the end – that was, and it was the one thing I missed most.

A big thank you to everyone who tested the beta and reported back. Your feedback found things I would never have seen on my own machine.
