From the Apple News Releases all existing Mac apps should run. RW9 I think is adding the “native support” for the new Apple silicon chips. With the translation technology of Rosetta 2, users will be able to run existing Mac apps that have not yet been updated. Apple Newsroom No one has a Mac with the new chips yet, so we have to rely on what Apple says.

The new Apple proprietary chip Macs will use Mac OS 11(big sur).

I had a few issues with some of Foundry’s stacks when I beta tested OS Big Surprise last week. Parts of some stacks didn’t work. The advice to wait a few months before switching, or not switching at all is sound advice.
