Hi there,

I’m very interested in buying and getting used to [Elements](https://elementsapp.io/), but before I do…

I have a production site built in Classic, which is on the same Mac I’d like to install [Elements](https://elementsapp.io/) on. If I do so, is there any chance the Classic app will be “damaged” or otherwise influenced by [Elements](https://elementsapp.io/)? Also, assuming this is not the case, can I “migrate” the Classic site into [Elements](https://elementsapp.io/) or build a new one in [Elements](https://elementsapp.io/) based on Classic?

Any and all recommendations and/or calming confirmations are welcome. 😉

Cheers!

They will not interfere with each other they can coexist. I have both installed on my machine and have not had any issues.

I have ported three sites from Classic/Stacks to [Elements](https://elementsapp.io/) and it went very smoothly. I recreated and enhanced the sites, so I primarily copied the content over from the old sites.

[Elements](https://elementsapp.io/) and some of its features made the process very smooth and effortless. The time consuming part was dealing with all of the assets from the old sites.

I have one more site to port and then I will happily put Classic/Stacks out to pasture as there are much greener pastures in [Elements](https://elementsapp.io/).

I should add that these were not trivial sites all three had e-commerce solutions and a lot of content. All of the sites look so much more professional now, which is encouraging.

The only missing piece for one of the sites was a blog solution, but that is coming to [Elements](https://elementsapp.io/) in the near future. One remaining issue is some sort of cookie banner solution.

Many thanks, Robin. Particularly the first paragraph is what I was looking for. Appreciate your time!

Thanks @handshaper for the quick reply here! 🙂

Just wanted to jump in a confirm what Robin has already said.

You can run both Classic and [Elements](https://elementsapp.io/) alongside each other without any issues — they won’t interfere with each other in any way.

There is no automatic migration tool, however, and as Robin said, we think you’ll find moving your site(s) over to [Elements](https://elementsapp.io/) a joyful experience!

If you have any questions along the way, just ask and we’ll be happy to help 🙂

Thanks, Ben. I’ve purchased and installed Elemnts in the meantime and will start “fiddling” asap. Since my Classic site relies heavily on Stacks, it’ll likely be a challenge to get it to “match” in [Elements](https://elementsapp.io/), but I have a feeling there will be various improvements along the way. Looking forward to the journey.

As I said, if you can’t work out how to recreate something from Stacks, just let us know — often there’s an easier way to do it in [Elements](https://elementsapp.io/), or we can whip up a custom component to do exactly the same thing 🙂
