ChatGPT inside of Xcode is fairly good now, as it has full project access. But you need to know the basics, and be able to spot when it’s leading you up the garden path, as it often does.
Yeah I have no idea what I was doing - just copying code from chat GPT then breaking and debugging
Got so tied of it - deleted Xcode off my machine…
If you ever fancy another try, I could not recommend this guy enough…
His 100 days of swift is a great starter.
Bookmarked this! Thanx!
Toying with the idea of ‘trying’ again
I try to only subscribe to chat when I need it…
Got 3 days left of subscription ![]()
Don’t know - the fellow who did 1-2-3 passed away
But he made sure to give me the code and load it to GitHub
I’ve been quoted $400 to add 20-30 pdfs to the app - no changes in code just to add PDFs!!! Then up from there for rewriting it…
So I thought
try and do it myself… editing existing code was a nightmare as chat GPT would have me fix one thing cause another to break - fix that then the first problem would come back and we would just loop fixes…
I started last year, ok with tailwind and a large part of css, trying to get my head around alpine, no idea about js, so slow, I have been through alpine website, its just working out how you code it altogether, simple stuff ok
Just my two pence…
If you already know CSS, Tailwind is pretty easy to pick up since many of its classes map directly to familiar CSS properties.
Likewise, if you’re comfortable with JavaScript, Alpine.js comes naturally because it uses a lot of the same concepts.
good with tailwind know that better than css, started straight with tailwind, just never tried js, so straight into alpine, backwards approach I suppose
my grid learning, images no longer work

I ll try js - it mainly logical operators trying to get my head around these
Kind of, but if it works for you, it works.
I’d recommend vanilla javascript next. A lot of times Alpine will fall short of your goals, but the beauty of it is you can include vanilla js in with it, so it’s limitless.
And ChatGPT is really really good at vanilla js. As long as you can read and understand it, gone are the days of trawling through endless Stack Overflow posts for answers on js.
Though we likely have to thank endless Stack Overflow posts on JS for teaching ChatGPT.
You’s have me down memory lane now ![]()
Just looked up my first ever PC, a DX-50.
I remembered taking it back to the shop saying it was broken.
When asked what seemed to be the problem. I said when I switch it on, all I get is a blank screen bar a flashing “C:>” ![]()

I had a zx80, vic20 - I could program in basic
dos was fun
I remember Visual Basic. I think I managed to make a ball bounce or something equally as mundane ![]()
I was a cnc machinist, before graphical controls came in, they had a form of basic, mostly parameters, loops and easy logical operators, mostly trigonometry, I could handle that no problem, js is gobbledegook to me
I know a guy here who purchased a Reichenbacher about thirty years ago for his joinery shop. He apparently invented the code to make it be able to lift the bit up and out and down and in as it made the corners so achieving a perfectly square corner. Reichenbacher took him all over the world to teach others.
Wow cool fact, amazing right time right place right kit
