When re-publishing several pages at once, I frequently get this message: ‘Waiting for Stacks plugin to provide page files…’ It never resolves and so I have to cancel. Then RWC will become unresponsive and crash. Any thoughts?
Unfortunately, this does sound like a Stacks issue rather than an issue with RapidWeaver Classic.
What it usually means is that Classic is running normally, but Stacks isn’t returning the generated files back to Classic for publishing, so Classic simply sits there waiting for a response that never arrives.
Could you let us know which versions of macOS, RapidWeaver Classic, and Stacks you’re using? If you’re not already running the latest versions, it’s worth updating first, as that may resolve the issue.
Unfortunately, there’s very little we can do from the Classic side, and it’s unlikely you’ll receive a response from YourHead regarding Stacks issues, so our options are quite limited.
Longer term, it may also be worth considering migrating your project to Elements. It’s actively developed, fully supported, and avoids this class of plugin communication issue altogether.
Thanks for your reply Dan. MacOS 26.5.1, RWC 9.6.8, Stacks 5.3.2. Is Stacks no longer upgrading for RWC?
Try the 5.3.3 beta, I think it fixed some things on macOS Tahoe
It would be a question for Isaiah.
We’d recommend moving over to Elements where possible, based on what Dan mentioned above.
Here is a link when this beta was releases with some notes.
Hmmm, that stacks beta is from way back in October 2025… Did the Stacks 5.3.3 plugin ever get officially released?
I think it’s still 5.3.2 on the YourHead website ![]()
Perhaps @Isaiah can shed some light on the matter?
Thanks for the replies. Reads like it’s the beginning of the end for RWC ![]()
Maybe
talk to yourhead about support
Real Mac keeps updating their end….
We plan to keep Classic updated, so there’s no worries on that front, and as long as Stacks gets updates you should be pretty safe…
