Hey Weavers,

We’ve got another great Elements update to share with you, this new build updates the local preview server with the latest PHP security update, and adds a whole host of fixes and improvements to Elements and the included components.

### An important security update for RapidWeaver Elements

We’ve updated the PHP bundled with RapidWeaver Elements to version 8.4.27 following the disclosure of two [critical security vulnerabilities in PHP](https://www.php.net/index.php#2026-10-21-5).

Elements uses its bundled PHP to preview websites on your Mac, including pages that use contact forms and other PHP features. This update brings those previews onto the patched version.

### What do you need to do?

Install the Elements update containing PHP 8.4.27. You don’t need to install PHP separately or republish your website for this fix.

### What about your published website?

Your hosting server runs its own copy of PHP, which needs updating separately. If your website uses PHP for contact forms, a CMS, or third-party add-ons ask your hosting provider to confirm they’ve applied the fixes for CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619.

**No action is required from Realmac/Elements Hosting customers.** All necessary updates have been handled automatically as part of our managed hosting service. [Read the full announcement](https://forums.realmacsoftware.com/t/php-security-update-all-realmac-hosting-servers-patched/57922).

Updating Elements protects its bundled preview runtime; your hosting provider’s update addresses PHP on your live website.

### What’s New in Elements 3.1.3?

- Updated the bundled PHP 8 runtime to version 8.4.27.
- Add Claude Haiku 5.5 in the assistant model picker.
- Update Forms API to address reported security issues.
- Add support and fix playback for local MP4 videos in Gallery, Lightbox, and Video.
- Lightbox media now pauses automatically when navigating, closing, or controlling it from the component root.
- Fixed the lightbox close button visibility on mobile.
- Added support for creating and reviewing LLM descriptions for Template Dev Packs
- Converting pages to and from globals behaves correctly with undo and redo.
- Nested global items remain linked correctly when using undo or redo.
- Undoing a re-done conversion now removes incorrect links between page nodes.
- Collections editing is safer and stays in sync with the outline and editor.
- The editor’s collections list now matches the objects shown in the outline.
- Inspector group titles now display with the correct styling.
- Label colours in the inspector now remain consistent.
- Theme Studio gives you better control over font resources.
- You can now delete a font even when it is covered by the drop overlay.
- Automatic update checks now fully respect your preference.
- Numerous Gallery and Lightbox Component improvements.
- Stop autoplay after the user interacts with the Content Slider.
- Add an option to place navigation arrows below the Content Slider.
- Improve Content Slider responsiveness and edit mode.
- Fix Load More CMS failures and empty renders caused by UTF‑8 decoding.
- Speed up CMS scans that already skip Markdown and defer Markdown conversion until render time.
- Resolve CMS online editor mode from front matter, folder settings, and \_editor.json for more predictable behaviour.
- Edit site‑data files in a structured fields form instead of a rich‑text editor.

You have fixed the Text component custom shadow issue I reported too (not listed above…). It now behaves much more like the custom shadow creator in the Theme Studio with the added bonus of live update in the edit view:-)

However, there are still a couple of minor differences - the live shadow behind the control is still based on black, not the shadow colour selected, and the labels for the X and Y fields are still hidden behind the control.

Good work though - it is at least now usable!
