The one thing I can’t understand as far as how a product is marketed is with Squash. I still haven’t upgrade from 3.1 to 3.2 since I’m told that there are going to be these continuing updates to the product but I haven’t seem anything come out since 2023.
That is where this idea of prepaying for features that haven’t come out yet doesn’t really make sense to me, and this goes for any company. You never know if these stream of features will continue to keep coming out if you pay in any kind of automatic on going way. So I would argue no matter how you price it that things like this become a lot more clear.
Agreed. However, the software you have installed continues to work “as is”; it is not restricted in any way due to not renewing the lease for the next year. It remains under your control—if the software has not had any updates worth paying for, then you simply choose not to pay.
This model protects you from paying for vaporware. It also incentivizes the programmers to continuously develop and improve the software, ensuring a stable cash flow. It’s a win/win situation.
