There are times that RW allows website addresses in the general settings to be incorrect. There are (at least) 2 rules that it should follow.
- URL begins with
- The URL should always end with a slash
Here is an example where both rules are broken.
https:// is required to be a valid URL. The trailing
/ though does not make it valid or invalid.
I agree that the trailing slash is not required. However, RW has added the trailing slash for years. Therefore, I have a lot of code that expects it to be there.
That is fine, and understandable, but others rely on it the other way probably as well. It is a bit disingenuous to say the trailing slash is necessary for a proper URL.
I was saying that it’s necessary because that is how it has done for years. No one should rely on the slash not being there because RapidWeaver adds it.
Try it for yourself. Type in a URL into the web address without a trailing slash. RW adds it…
How do customers end up with URLs without a slash? I have no clue…
