Hi Realmac Hosters. 👋

We wanted to make our hosting customers aware of a recent security incident involving **OPSSHIELD** , the company behind **cPGuard** , a security solution used by many web hosting providers.

On November 2, 2026, OPSSHIELD experienced a cyberattack in which an unauthorized party gained access to its software update distribution infrastructure. This allowed the attacker to distribute a malicious update to servers running cPGuard.

According to OPSSHIELD, the malicious update was designed to collect sensitive server information, including password hashes and other credentials. The company has since released a security update and is continuing to investigate the incident.

### Our Hosting Customers Are Unaffected

**We want to reassure all our hosting customers that we do not use cPGuard or OPSSHIELD’s services anywhere within our hosting infrastructure.**

As a result, our hosting servers and customer websites are **not affected by this particular security incident** , and no action is required from customers hosting their websites with us.

### What If You Have Websites Hosted Elsewhere?

We know that some of our customers also maintain websites or hosting accounts with other providers.

Since cPGuard is used by numerous hosting companies, we encourage anyone with hosting accounts elsewhere to **keep an eye out for security notifications or emails from their hosting providers** regarding this incident.

If your hosting provider uses cPGuard and was affected, they should be able to advise you on any necessary precautions, which may include changing passwords, updating credentials, or taking additional steps to protect your websites and sensitive information.

We recommend contacting your hosting provider directly if you have any concerns about whether their infrastructure was affected.

### Further Information

You can read OPSSHIELD’s official security advisory, including details about the incident and recommended actions, here:

>
> Update every cPGuard server to version 5.88.25 or later immediately. Administrator actions and known indicators, published 3 November 2026.

Security is something we take very seriously, and we believe it’s important to keep our customers informed about significant incidents affecting the wider web hosting industry, even when our own infrastructure is unaffected.

**Stay safe out there!**
