# Security Enhancement: Blocking Connections to Known Malicious Domains

Hi Elements Hosters. 👋

Another exciting security enhancement! Ok well I know most people don’t find web hosting security very exciting, but I do.. 😅

We’re starting the rollout of another behind-the-scenes security improvement across [Elements Hosting](https://elementshosting.io/).

Hosted websites will begin benefiting from an additional layer of protection that can **help prevent website code from connecting to domains that are known to be associated with malicious activity**. This new security enhancement doesn’t prevent a website from becoming compromised. However, it can help block a compromised website from initiating contact with domains that have been flagged by trusted security providers. This can reduce the risk of a compromised website transmitting private or sensitive data to bad actors, or communicating with malicious infrastructure.

We’re rolling this change out gradually across our hosting servers over the coming days, starting today, Wednesday, September 23rd, and completing the rollout on Friday, October 2nd.

This works automatically at the hosting platform level, so there’s nothing you need to configure or change on your website.

Like all security measures, this isn’t intended to replace keeping website software and code secure, but it adds another useful layer to the protections already built into Elements Hosting. 💪

We’ll continue to improve the platform in ways that strengthen security while keeping things simple and invisible for customers wherever possible.
