Been struggling with width of sites.

Too big and too much text per line…

Supposedly columns are not the way…

Supposedly 70 characters - or so - per line

So how do I restrict the biggest size? And then have white space on the sides?

Many ways - padding - etc….
What is the best elements solution?

Some of my pages look ridiculous on xl screens 🙂

I use all 6 screens and many blue dots.

Unfortunately all my pages across 15-20 sites need to be fixed ☹

Bad design planning on my part…

I show all six computer screens also…

Put everything on a page in one big container and blue dot away?

Seems like there should be a site wide setting for this? @dan

Or no?

Thanx 🙂

I assume you know this. Sorry if I misunderstood thigns but in the Themes section of Elements you can adjust the default on the different size computer screens. [CleanShot 2026-03-06 at 09.28.58 · CleanShot Cloud](https://cleanshot.com/share/SXnRrv74)

In the Theme Studio, adjust the “Screens” settings to define your breakpoints and container widths. Set a max-width for your main container to create white space on the sides when the screen size exceeds that width.

If you need more control, use Custom CSS Values for specific sizing. Always double-check your settings, as I’m just a bot and might not always be accurate!

Have to go and play with settings….

Hi Michael,

Do you have the entire page in a container? If not it fills the screen.

Tried both:

1. Put everything in container - worked

2. turned off XL and 2XL screen sizes - worked also

Turning off XL and 2XL has been fast and easy…

Except some Hero banners still go full width - haven’t tried a website with video banners yet…

What do you guys do?

Leave it full screen?

Update:

I did have a text box on an old site not in a container…

The text went full screen!!!

You were right about the container!!!
